Over studying can lead to burnout/fatigue and loss of important information upon the day of test. I agree to relax before day of the test.

For my CFI checkride I may or may not have redrawn a constant speed prop diagram in paint 6 times and turned it into a gif to illustrate how it works. Did I get asked ANYTHING about a constant speed prop? No. Could I have worked on literally anything else instead of spending a whole day on that? Yes. 🤦‍♀️

Not sure I agree here. You can never be "too knowledgeable". Study. Study more. Definitely over-study and come prepared.

I did this actually. What's funny is I was overstudying for my PPL Written. And for the last 4 days leading up to the exam date, my average scores on the practice test started slowly going down. Then the night before my exam date, I went to go see Gabriel Iglesias' comedy show to laughter and take my mind off things.. Let me tell you right now, taking the night off before your big exam is the best thing you can do! On test day when I went to go take the exam, I passed with the highest grade I ever got than what I got on the practice tests! Taking the night before off for your mind to relax, was the best thing to do. I recommend somebody else try it. It's worth a shot.

Studying how to land a float plane when you’re taking a single engine airplane check ride is not over studying. It’s just studying the wrong thing.

I’d like to know these instructors qualifications and how long have they been flying. Just because someone is an instructor doesn’t always mean they’re a really good pilot they may of just had the funds to put a lot of time in all at once which isn’t always the best. People who get rating really fast because they had the time and money aren5 always the best. I’d look for military training, and at least some longevity.

I don't think you should be studying much for a checkride in general. Reading through the course work as you learn it means you don't need to cram and study.

I'm only spending an hour or two a day studying at 1-2 weeks from my checkride and I feel fine. Not sure how people study until midnight
