That is a really good setup. That D-10 just hunkers down and just powers through the pull. Crazy neat I wanna tickle the levers on it.
@donbertelsmannjr81932 ай бұрын
well it'd be a better idea to load the pan with the D-10, and then switch it out to a rubber tired or tracked tractor for the haul. or maybe just push the frickin' thing with the dozer in the first place? and D10? really? 'ive seen double bowl scrapers pushed with a D8 is shitty dirt...

Nice seeing a tractor/pull pan combo don't see them too often. Works well on a short-haul job in less than ideal loading and underfoot conditions.

I have to say the Scrapper looks like its had a restoration Job,? Bloody good Job aswell, 😊

It had been refurbished a while back and then sat for a while. Was an old 631 scraper which had suffered a burn out on the front end

That D.10 was struggling a bit there towards the end, D.11 might have been better. I've often wondered with those Tracks slipping Is there a choice with deeper Tracks for more Grip With that scapper,? 😊

Very hard, compacted material. A D11 would have been better, but more expensive and as there are only two in the UK, very rare

Nice until you have to drive down a steep clay slope in the rain as that pan has no brakes and will push you hard and start jackknifing! Working a landfill/ dump the cell that was filled that day has to be covered with a foot of clay by night...heat, rain or snow it has to be done and that's when things get hairy!

Drop the box - that’s how all the old school muckshifters slowed scrapers!

Would they be better pulling box with a D8 and pushing with the D10

Why run a box with the blade on 😂

Because they were only running it for a week or two

Some one who knows how to set the apron at the right opening, not like some who have it way open and waste power by dozing 5 cu mts of dirt in front of the bowl and not getting it in the bowl.

Never could understand why this type of configuration is EVER used!? Why not just use a 631 and a push-cat? The whole purpose of a scraper is to move material RAPIDLY from place to place. Using the 10 is the SLOWEST possible machine to do the job. The underfoot is fine and the material is very friendly. Use the 10 for it’s intended purpose otherwise you’re Wasting time and money.

How many operators are being paid here vs your method? how many engines are burning diesel and wearing out here vs your method, how many transmissions are wearing out here vs your method? what are your 2 operators doing when its wet with your method? this method has the lowest cost per cubic yard of mateial moved up to a certain haul distance...so many closed minds in this earthmoving game

@@Gavin84w I spent years on dozers and towed scoops back in NZ, definitely the way to move dirt in the right conditions, diggers and dump trucks were not thought of back then. In real crap material you top loaded a scoop with a dragline. They still use dozer/scoop combos over there, sometimes a LGP dozer on pyramid plates towing KOKUDU scoops in some situations.

I run a couple of Komatsu LGP - pull Scraper units in the summer season, removing topsoil and clay for future use at our controlled fill site in the Waikato nz. Great for poor underfoot loading conditions and short haul runs. Run a Cat 613B with them tidying up the ends and tight areas

That set up is soooo unproductive!!! Excessive wear and tear on undercarriage. At least get some 651’s with 2 D10 push dozers. Better yet. Get some 657’s
@RPAMEDIA7 күн бұрын
So you'd replace a single D10 and box with 2x D10 and I assume 4 651s because it is unproductive... Tell me how you equate 6 engines, 6 lots of transport, 6 lots of wages, diesel and servicing over 1 as unproductive
@donbertelsmannjr81932 ай бұрын
that is the dumbest setup ever...

@donbertelsmannjr81932 ай бұрын
@@RPAMEDIA there is no world in which a dozer (esp. a D10!) pulling a scraper is cost effective, unless maybe that is the only two machines you own, and then a subcontractor that actually has modern equipment would be a better idea. track wear is a nightmare, not to mention operator comfort. there are so many other configurations for bad dirt. i have moved plenty of bad dirt in my time, and this was never even considered. and we didn't even have the newer MTS and K-Tec stuff back then. come to think of it, who's even using CAT scrapers anymore? the MTS and K-Tec stuff left those in the dust bowl of history.
@RPAMEDIA2 ай бұрын
You really have a bee in your bonnet about this! Just chill out. It's not your job. Not your money. Not your country. All parties involved here are experienced muck shifters in the UK, they know the cost implications and happily use the kit they have at their disposal to make a good living from it. Plenty of people globally still using CAT scrapers.
