i have been through many many abusive relationships with men. not only as a girlfriend but as a daughter. my father beat me, and i couldn't leave. I'm a minor. i didn't have a choice. he beat me and beat me until one day i finally had enough and told my mother. he's now in jail, and i have been in abusive relationships with young men, who thought it was okay (after knowing about my father) to hit me, even teasingly, very hard. i enjoyed rough housing, as i am a tomboy, but when those punches and slaps leave bruises and marks... its not right for any girl to go through that. that is why i am thankful to have met trent, my lovely boyfriend. he has never laid a hand on me except to wipe away tears from my eyes or hold me in a loving way. it is difficult to get out of abusive relationships, i know. but when you do, you realize how strong you were to have gotten yourself out of them, and you will move on to another wonderful person, one that hopefully treats you better than the previous. i just want everyone to know that I'm always available if anyone ever needs to ask for advice or just let out to someone. i might not know exactly what to say, but i can try my best to offer advice and support. all of your lives matter, don't let someone degrade you.

This is a song written for all victims of abuse. I was abused by relatives and partners for most of my life. This song came out at a time when I was finally ready to break free of them. Best thing I ever did.

What I love about this song is that not only does it describe an abusive relationship, but the singer is clearly in love with the victimized girl. He stands up for her, believes in her ability to stand up for herself, and will stand beside her. For all the girls out there dealing with abusive guys, know that you can be strong. And more importantly, know that you deserve and can have a better man.

This is one of my favorite Emo songs based on it’s lyrics It’s so refreshing to hear an Emo band write lyrics about the very prevalent & mentally damaging problem known as Domestic Abuse that still going on in society to today, rather than writing another typical song about how upset you are after a breakup. In general I wish Emo covered more diverse problems that make people said in daily society.

My mom lost some teeth she can't get back from that incident. Which has made it hard for her to get jobs. My mom is with another guy who treats her better and is more of a father than my actual father was or ever will be. I dedicate this song to my mom. *A new life she has found.*
