i have been through many many abusive relationships with men. not only as a girlfriend but as a daughter. my father beat me, and i couldn't leave. I'm a minor. i didn't have a choice. he beat me and beat me until one day i finally had enough and told my mother. he's now in jail, and i have been in abusive relationships with young men, who thought it was okay (after knowing about my father) to hit me, even teasingly, very hard. i enjoyed rough housing, as i am a tomboy, but when those punches and slaps leave bruises and marks... its not right for any girl to go through that. that is why i am thankful to have met trent, my lovely boyfriend. he has never laid a hand on me except to wipe away tears from my eyes or hold me in a loving way. it is difficult to get out of abusive relationships, i know. but when you do, you realize how strong you were to have gotten yourself out of them, and you will move on to another wonderful person, one that hopefully treats you better than the previous. i just want everyone to know that I'm always available if anyone ever needs to ask for advice or just let out to someone. i might not know exactly what to say, but i can try my best to offer advice and support. all of your lives matter, don't let someone degrade you.

A message to anyone saying that women can hit men as well: That's not the point of this song. The artist sings of his experience seeing a man abusing a girl, so he speaks from the bystander's perspective. He sings what he sees. This song has nothing to do with the inverse, so please stop bringing that up here. It just sounds picky and unnecessary.

That American Narrator Gender equality is a non stop thing. Even if people get hurt or killed. It can't be just one gender that does the evil deeds its gotta be both. Or It can't be just one gender that's the victims getting hurt, its always gotta be both. Non stop, back and forth. This song wasn't about one gender over another, its about a man abusing his so called "girlfriend." And it most cases, since men like these are the manipulative, of course they're gonna go after females that are weaker, and can go down with a few hits. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble (whoever maybe reading this) but thats how it happens. Most of the time in these kind of situation its the man that beats the girl. Not saying all of the time. Buts thats a lot of calls cops get.

What I love about this song is that not only does it describe an abusive relationship, but the singer is clearly in love with the victimized girl. He stands up for her, believes in her ability to stand up for herself, and will stand beside her. For all the girls out there dealing with abusive guys, know that you can be strong. This is one of my favorite Emo songs based on it’s lyrics It’s so refreshing to hear an Emo band write lyrics about the very prevalent & mentally damaging problem known as Domestic Abuse that still going on in society to today, rather than writing another typical song about how upset you are after a breakup. This song has a great story to it. I's not okay for things like this happen. I wish that abuse didn't even exist. I wish that this world was perfect, but it never will be. My thoughts to all of those who have suffered or are currently suffering from abuse. God bless you all.

This song should get more attention. It's got a really important message to it. It's a massive shame that Chris Brown, who's exactly like the guy described in "Face Down", and Rihanna, who won't get away from him, are more popular than the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, who have really important things to say to us.
@hondata97410 жыл бұрын
Well the RJA are a one-hit wonder, so it makes sense that they are not as popular as Chris Brown and Rihanna and Face Down came out like in 2006, Chris Brown started being violent and beating up Rihanna in 2008, but you make a good point, in fact, this song should be dedicated to Chris Brown to control his issues.
@ProfessorRJLupin10 жыл бұрын
HJ Farooqi But they're not a one-hit wonder. In addition to "Face Down", there's also "Your Guardian Angel".
@hondata97410 жыл бұрын
ProfessorRJLupin I meant that Face Down was the band's only hit on the radio, their other songs were not played on the radio or were not that well-known.
