These infomercials seem to almost always gloss over the big thing that makes cooking take so much time: prep. Nobody is actually "slaving over a hot stove" to cook (well not usually), they just don't wanna deal with chopping veggies, chopping and prepping meat and all that stuff after a hard day of work.

But what if you don’t have access to a stove or oven, like a college student living in a dorm room? This contraption would be PERFECT for them and others in similar situations. Also, it would be wonderful to use the oven setting on this machine during the summer time when my home is running hot (I don’t have air conditioning), instead of firing up and running my big gas oven, which makes the temperature in my home even hotter.

P.S. I just noticed that this contraption has an oven setting, so she can easily brown rolls if she wanted to. She made cinnamon rolls in it, ffs. That’s kinda cool - awesome for a college student in a dorm. I thought this was just going to be an early version of the Instant Pot pressure cooker, but there’s actually more to it (it has an extra capability). My Instant Pot sure af doesn’t have an oven setting! 😢

Yep... but it’s actually a bit cooler, because it has an oven setting, and my Instant Pot sure doesn’t! You can make cinnamon rolls in this dang thing, ffs. For that reason alone (it having an oven setting), the Chef-O-Matic would be preferred for a college student in a dorm (for example) over having an Instant Pot. I’m very curious to watch some reviews of this machine to see how well it performed by people who bought one. Obviously it didn’t catch on (I’m curious why not), and Instant Pot came along and took over the industry. I’d _LOVE_ it if my IP had an oven feature, just to have that option of using it instead of my giant kitchen oven during the summer, when the house is already hot as it is, so the last thing I want to do is cook with the gas oven to make my place even hotter. Not to mention the fact that you can tell this thing when to start cooking with it’s timer. P.S. Maybe it bombed because of the name alone lol. It’s just so bad! “Chef-O-Matic” 😂

I think what some of y'all don't get is that some of us never learned how to cook anything other than maybe boiling pasta. And I'm one of them. And as an adult, it is so difficult finding recipes and resources that aren't overly complicated and based on the fact that you should have prior knowledge of cooking and nutrition. Especially as someone who doesn't eat meat, it's not easy finding stuff I can learn how to cook. Im not saying this particular appliance seems that helpful, but a lot of the things Cathy talks about - her dump dinners and other appliances- can actually be really helpful.

It has a pressure cooker setting too, like an Instant Pot, right? I can’t get over the fact that it has an oven setting! I wish my Instant Pot had that capability! Although I’m wondering if Cathy had to put the cinnamon rolls on top of pecans because if she didn’t, the rolls would burn where they touched the pot? I’m glad to hear that this machine has served you well. Is the company/manufacture who made it still in business and offer customer support? Or are they no longer around? I’d love to hear a more detailed review of it from someone like yourself that owns one and has used it plenty (if you have a moment to share 😊). Like what turned out to be disappointing and didn’t work as advertised, if anything? Was anything surprising, or difficult to figure out? Has the non-stick pot coating started to chip off or get scratched up (that would suck if the manufactures were no longer around to be able to buy a replacement pot if it ever becomes necessary)? Etc, Etc. I’ve never heard of one of this machine until now, so I’m very curious about it. :)
@anti-ethniccleansing465
@anti-ethniccleansing465 24 күн бұрын
P.S. One of the meals Kathy made here had me scratching my head. She had broccoli steaming in the white steamer tray, while pasta was cooking below it. I imagine it’s nearly impossible to get perfectly cooked broccoli (not under cooked or overcooked) when cooking it at the same time, in the same pot, as the main course, as they’d require different cooking times. You have to have come across that problem with your machine, right? Just curious. It seems like they are overpromising how “smart” the machine is. Modern machines today have split up compartments that cook things at different times/temps/etc when simultaneously making such different foods in them for a single meal.

@@derryshore5586 It has a pressure cooker setting too, like an Instant Pot, right? :) I’m glad it held up all these years and is still going strong! Your machine is like 13 years old now, right? I believe this infomercial came out in 2011, if I’m not mistaken.

@@derryshore5586 P.S.

That’s what I originally thought too, but it’s actually a bit cooler, because it has an oven setting, and my Instant Pot sure doesn’t! You can make cinnamon rolls in this dang thing, ffs. For that reason alone (it having an oven setting), the Chef-O-Matic would be preferred for a college student in a dorm over having an Instant Pot.

So, none of the food in the video was made in the devices. You may have noticed she never actually turned them on or pushed start on camera. I noticed that the bottom of the cake she "made" is a different shape than the pot is supposedly came in. Then she took a supposedly molten cake and held it up to the camera in the palm of her hand.

Nope. You didn’t pay attention. This machine has a _LOT_ more to it than a rice cooker. It has settings for stovetop frying, as well as an oven, steamer, slow cooker, and pressure cooker / rice cooker.
