Starspeed's S-92A seen in scheduled service serving the Scilly Islands during peak season as a replacement for the AW-139 which was supposed to be delivered earlier in 2020, but got delayed due to Covid-19. G-LAWX is one of the first S-92 off the production line as MSN 007 built in 2004. Unfortunately I was sitting on the wrong side for a great view of Lands End. This was after a weather thriller lasting for 36h during which everyone said this helicopter won't fly in the next two days. Eventually the heavy fog lifted while whole Europe was baking in sunshine, and we could join the first outbound service. The heliport is the new Penzance Heliport, which I believe adapted the code PZE from the old Penzance Heliport. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Great to see helicopters going back to the Scillies. I miss the S-61 though!

The Royal Canadian Navy operates a (considerably) modified version of this helicopter off of their warships. It is called the CH-148 Cyclone and it has teething pains but is obviously an awesome aircraft. They can jam 22 soldiers into those. (Interesting. It also replaced the S-62 Sea King sister of your old S-61)

I fly offshore in these and they are considerably noisier and we have a lot more safety protocols!

Nice. I did the Victoria-Vancouver S76 trip after seeing your video and now I think I’m going to have to visit the Scillies! Once all this Covid business is done and dusted of course.

Great to hear I inspired some travels :D This S-92 was a short-term replacement due to the delay of their AW-139 though, they should now be operating the AW-139 regularly. But rumors said the S-92 may return over the Christmas period, so its worth monitoring.

If you´re into scheduled helicopter flights there are quite a few more routes - even in Europe.

This is the only helicopter that you can walk uprightly in the cabin. The H225 need to bow down to walk through the cabin. Eurocopter need to get rid of H225 and design a new helicopter.

Funny: "Ladies and gentlemen please take your seats and fasten seat belts. We´re landing in 2 minutes ..." How did you know they operated with a S-92 ??? ... or was it really just by accident that you hit the jackpot ?

We knew about it before, but cannot exactly recall where the info came from. I think one of my friends found it by coincidence, and we then contacted Penzance Helicopters to cross check the schedule. It was due to the Covid-related delay of their AW-139.

16 pax is a full load, basically the entire cabin except the 2 seats near the door were sold. You can see the seat plan on the safety card at 5:20.

@@hynzlee3382 This aircraft is indeed owned by a wealthy business man from the USA and Starspeed operates it on behalf of this person when he is in the UK. Inbetween it is available for charter work, and this is what has happened here.
