I'm sure this has been going on for decades and they need to investigate this because these are minors. There could be rampant abuse and cover-up along with the drugs. It wouldn't surprise me.😢

there are minors but this “juvenile” facility rehabilitates men and boys age 16-23 or 24 so it’s more than likely majority legal adults 18 - 24 considering the age range for minors is 16-17 vs adults is 18-23/24. and this is exactly why there’s been a major spike in crime, riots, contraband, violence, JRO crimes against inmates. i have a feeling the number of sex crimes from jros on inmates would drop if there wasn’t adults and only minors housed there. the state officials and police keep acting so shocked abt the spikes in crime in there when it’s mostly adult criminals and then older teen inmates being heavily influenced by these adult inmates. not to mention the gang activity. i don’t understand or agree with the need for the large age range. juvenile detention should be 18 and under and adult jails and prisons 18 and up. the eligibility for 18 +\- depending on severity of crime and length of sentence. this all needs fixed with real effort from real officials. too many articles and news stories with shock factor for publicity but not enough action and change. and these men are this counties future smh

"I can ensure you, we've made improvements" 🤣

Why don't I feel "ensured"? What a "poli" speak. He doesn't specify what improvements were made or requirements to fully cooperate with local law enforcement.

It's a state run facility so I wonder if they even have to report it to local law enforcement? Regardless if an offender is found with drugs or other contraband it should at the least be brought to the attention of the court that handled the case.

A state run facility does have the responsibility to report crimes to the local law enforcement. There is no separate justice system within the state for state property and facilities. You don't see a separate court system like you do for Federal Property where you have a US Magistrate. In each county the primary law enforcement is the County Sheriff. Then you have local municipalities. In Pierce County with Western State Hospital would report crimes to 911 and (I'm dating myself here) the Sheriff's Department would respond not the State Patrol. Anything that brought to the attention of any court is through law enforcement, prosecutor's office and so on. Hope that clarifies your post.

@@Pomisher This is not just a state run facility it is a part of the state corrections system, which is for all intent and purposes its own police force. They run and administer the jails and detention centers. To the best of my knowledge they do not report crimes committed inside their facilities to the local police departments. I have never seen a case where the Department of Corrections has notified the local law enforcement about crimes that occur inside their prisons or detention center. I have seen where they report the crime to a prisoner's parole officer or make it a part of the prisoners record. So unless you are a corrections officer or any attorney with a working knowledge of how these things are handled I will take your answer with a grain of salt. I believe this is just more posturing by a member of the GOP to gain recognition for himself.

Green Hill is administered by DCYF not department of corrections.
