This video shows you how to properly light and adjust a Bunsen burner, how to cut glass tubing, fire polish it and bend it to a 90 degree angle.

@MarkRosengarten Thanks for getting back to me. After watching your demonstration I hunted around for a flame spreader for my propane torch. I have already been using propane to fool around with various bits of glass. I was trying to make a coil for a see-through pop-pop boat. I actually have nice safety glasses and a small oxyacetylene torch- though I'm kind of scared of it. I just need a wider flame. The annealing flame is tricky with a LP torch. Used a foil collar-not great.

Fun video! Curious have you ever manipulated Pyrex sheet in a Bunsen Burner? I have a multi barrel burner that I have never really used.

After thoroughly watching this video, and learning how to bend glass, is there any way to bend the glass at a different angle then strictly 90*? I know I'm being a ... yeah.. but thank you for thr video, even if I'm a bit late to class

@DrakeDorosh You can get a propane torch from Home Depot! Be careful whenever working with it. Fair warning! :)

Can I use propane? Is there a commercial supplier of methane?

SiO2 is merely the ratio. Silicon has 4 valence electrons, which it can't make with only 2 oxygen atoms. Silicon is quite strict about its bond angles - it doesn't like two bonds coming off in the same direction. As such, AFAIK, there's no such thing as an isolated molecule of SiO2 consisting of one silicon atom. Generally, a large structure is formed, with atoms of oxygen sharing atoms of silicon. I don't know if it's stretching it to call it a molecule, but it's certainly longer than 3 atoms!

@MaBuSt Did he say that? Glass is simply SiO2... :/, that's not super long lol.. at all
