thanks for posting these vids- I live in the USA and am so used to the NBC coverage of the Olympics- it's so interesting to hear another perspective in commentary [particularly commentary that isn't as invested in American results]

i dont understand why she stopped with bars. like what happened? she's chinese - even a relatively simple routine couldve made her an AA contender with her vault, floor and beam.

It was a mental thing. She was scared by them and chose to stop once going elite. It was definitely a good choice, not a place where you want a mid routine mental block!

with a simple bars routine she could easily take the gold. she was the best literally by far on vault and floor that code. on beam? a little questionable because she was not that consistent, but had difficulty and excellent form.

Fei Cheng had way better vault, beam and floor than Anastasia Liukin. With a regular bar routine she would get that AA gold easily.

Shawn used to have way better vault, beam and floor than Anastasia Liukin and still didn't get that AA gold medal.

the thing is cheng fei doesn't do bars. Like at all.

@@Nicole-db2ub She used to at the junior elite level and she had a really solid routine. But apparently something about bars scared her so after she went elite she dropped bars.

On paper, not in execution. The fact that she got bronze on this event with that abismal routine was a farce.

stop of the support leg too early on the spin-0.1, but a harsh judge may take even 0.3 here cause this means you stop spinning (I think) steps back to recover control after the back tuck with full twist -0.3 lands too low on the rulfova - 0.1 hop on landing - 0.1 so that makes -0.6 at least which would result in a B score of 9.4. her B score here was 9.275

The scoring was very questionable on many occasions- especially on beam. She won bronze on this with a routine that was, at best a 5th-6th place worthy effort.

Oh sorry, I meant 0.1 in penalty! On the results, it says she got a 0.1 penalty . A- 6.7, B-9.275, Penalty 0.1 15.875 So what was the penalty?

There was a technical error in the judges' computer when they posted her score, they quickly got rid of the penalty and gave Cheng Fei a 15.975 on the beam which was her best routine and score on beam ever!!!

@@lb7617 I'm sure she scored a 16+ in a minor competition outside China.
