After my video on the chenille wash pad recently a few questions about the ability of chenille to carry soap as well as a microfibre does, so thought I would try them both out to see for myself.

Hi Martin, I bought two of the chenille gloves from Halfords. They have 5 fingers and are brilliant for cleaning wheels. I put them on, dip my hands in the wash bucket and clean the wheels literally using my gloved hands. Great with my Peugeot 3008 SUV alloys which have tiny gaps in the spokes - too narrow for a wheel brush to push through.

Great vid Martin was good to to see all media used back to back. I currently use micro fibre madness incridipad and find them perfectly sized, unlike two of those pads you used they were mahosive lol, so they come highly recommended from me. Keep up the good bud and catch ya on the next one 😎

The media is often the least glamorous of the products we use. We think about buckets, guards, shampoos but less so about mitts. I've always felt comfortable with chenille but you've got me interested in microfiber now.

Ahh that's the problem with watching youtube videos. You end up spending money on things you didn't know you wanted🤣. Thats what I find anyway Adrian. I think its worth giving microfibre a try but at the end of the day its what works for you that matters

Good video Martin, I tend to chop and change quite a bit between the chenille and MF mitt but never done or thought to do a direct comparison. You are right in saying the chenille does feel a fair bit heavier than the Mf when using tho.

My favourite is the regular sized Microfibre Madness Washpad which is small and thinner than the ones you have there and closer to using a mitt without putting your hand in. I’ve tried larger wash pads, Chenille and microfibre but find the extra weight off putting. I find I have to press harder on vertical panels so I don’t drop it plus with the chenille not having anything inside as microfibre one do, I have trouble getting it to sit flat on the vertical panels as it wants to fold on itself. The internal sponge or whatever is inside the microfibre pads ensure they keep their shape. Some of the larger ones also empty your bucket after a few dunks as they hold so much water.

Sounds like what you really need is a thinner version of a microfibre wash pad. That way you get the benefit of carrying a bit more water than a mitt and also greater flexibility and maneuverability than a normal sized wash pad. Tell Mrs OCD to put away her cake tins and get the singer out, you'll have yourself a nice bit of merch on the go before long........ That sponge shaped microfibre pad block is one of my favourites, particularly for my 'pad flip' 🤣 I don't put my hands in them either, as I like to flip them over frequently! Is it just me or was it obvious just from washing that the microfiber was way better? Just observing that the Chenille did foam way, way less. And all MF did a massive foam coating of the car. Obviously it must have been much easier to move it around as you described it all video long. Makes total sense why looking at the little bubbles. :-)

You cant beat those microfibre wash mits. I just cant get on with the noodle type, I find they start to lose their softness quickly and unless you're using a really foamy shampoo, they seem to kill the foam. You can see once your shampoo solution had settled down a bit and you used the noodle the second time, it produced far less suds. I use my noodles mitts now for doing the sills and arch lips

I feel that the chenille mitts carry far more water, soap, and lubrication which is what you want for the health of your car's paint. The extra water and lubrication makes it so that it glides across your paint very smoothly. The microfiber mitts don't glide as smoothly and feels like you're marring your paint even with all of the water and soap on it and the lightest of pressure. I mean they both work don't get me wrong but over the course of a couple of years my bet would be that the chenille mitts would be much better for your car's paint. Then again for people that buff and polish their car every 2 years it shouldn't matter anyways.

I always feel detailing is a personal thing and although there are lots of videos on KZfaq the most important thing is to do what works for you. Some KZfaqrs say what manufacturers want them to say and some give it to you straight. So I always take what I want when watching KZfaq.👍

The MF are thinner and don't hold much water. Try the CD scratch test and do it wet and do it dry and see which one marks the writable surface. I did that and I won't use a MF on my paint over a noodle. 😉 If you like Adams Shampoo, try their Mega Foam. It's more concentrated so you need less and so it actually works out cheaper. 30ml product & 320ml water in your PF22 is plenty. 👌🏻

Each to their own Martin. The pads with foam inserts are a nightmare to use, they feel cumbersome and awkward,as you found.I have used both microfibre/chenille pads and mitts and like most things quality matters.Recently I washed both my cars using microfibre on one and chenille on the other with Garage Therapy one shampoo in warm water at the same ratio and found like you the microfibre seemed to glide easier over the panels and was more sudsy.Even though I found this,I still feel the chenille pad creates a safer wash.It maybe just all in my head!
