@Saurabh Wadhwani No. she is not konkani. She is south Indian. Wikipedia mentions her hometown as Bangalore and her father's place of birth as udupi, madras presidency. When the movie was accused to be making fun of south indians. She defended it saying she is also a south indian and will never make fun of her culture.

@Saurabh Wadhwani I knew you would say that. Wikipedia is just for a point of reference, I also said that she called herself a south Indian. In fact, she has said multiple times that her hometown is Bangalore. I am not going to give you links to articles or videos, because I am sure you can find it yourself easily if you want to. Besides, we don't need Wikipedia to know that Prakash Padukone is a south Indian. As for the Konkani connection, I don't remember if they ever mentioned the reason for that konkani style ceremony. Even if they did, it doesn't change anything. If I say that my ancestors came from Africa, that doesn't change the fact that I was born and raised in India, that I should know Hindi or other Indian languages and sound like an Indian. To answer your last question, No, my professors didn't taught me that. A lot of them even relied on Wikipedia. I had to learn it the hard way. Well, Whatever it is, I don't blame her. Because if I remember correctly, she was forced to do a that stereotypical accent and even had a lot of difficulty. Why am I doing this? I should have never started this argument. I hardly comment on youtube.

Exactly. The accent felt like she was holding 5kg dumbbells in her hands and straining in the effort to speak, it was unnecessarily heavy. I am from Andhra Pradesh, but I have Tamil speaking friends, and they speak normally as anyone would do. They might mix up some grammar when they speak Hindi, but no one strains that hard.

honestly speaking, I have never loved SRK movie except sweadi film where he played scientist. some of the movie maker and superstars has been fooling the audience for such a long time. thank god now they waking up form it.
