By the time your dosimeter reading starts to increase...it's too late. A rising reading is exactly what it means...it's rising and will carry on rising even after you withdraw. I think you mistook that expression, he already estimated the number to be more than twice as high* in the Central Committee meeting earlier. *Based on his claim that 3.6 Roentgen = 400 X-ray exposures, and his estimate of the firemans exposure being 4 million X-rays, or 10,000x higher = 36,000 Roentgen. I would say that the expression on his face was relief at being proven right, that the cleanup could begin immediately instead of being caught up in Soviet bureaucracy while it continued to poison the surrounding land as the Chernobyl administrators had been doing up until then.

Okay, the part where Vasily is holding the baby made me cry so much. He was so so young...He should've got the chance to experience being a father. When we think of Chernobyl, we think of destruction, radiation, and catastrophy. What Chernobyl should be remembered for is people. People who sacrificed everything for others. People who had lives to live, but gave it up for their sense of duty. Heroes. That's what we should remember Chernobyl for.

@@user-bd1si1ru3x I think I got your point. but we can all agree that it's made for common people to watch so sometimes to explain things in an easy manner scientific facts are exaggerated to make it engaging or entertaining. also while producing these types of shows they Fuck up timelines and some of these mixups can safely be ignored, like the part where they put concrete on dead bodies it might be a thing of the future but it was a necessity so all a general watcher need to know is that bodies were needed to be concretized. Anyway, these producers have always been like this they exaggerate and put in lots of extra stuff but those who expertise these have to learn to ignore the ignorance of producers, or else every other movie or documentary is somehow bullshit and unwatchable. This series is somewhat much closer to reality than those fake fictitious movies and series I have watched so far, that's what makes this series a gem. except for some instances, most parts were correct and to the point. I only pity when some agendas are behind or greed is involved. The thing with the USSR can only be understood by some and I am not one of those so I can't say much. I might have had a really different perspective if I knew more about the USSR so I am not sure. but that's really disheartening to know series like this could have these objectives.
