1. Former residence of ARISUGAWA-NO-MIYA
It was built in the Imperial palace as the residence of Arisugawa-no-miya, a member of the imperial family who existed from 1625 to 1913. It was moved to its current location in 1891.
Now, Heian Jogakuin University owns the building ( not open to the public but it opens for a limited time).

2. Kyoto Gyoen National park
Until the capital was moved to Tokyo in 1868, Kyoto Imperial Palace was the residence of the Japanese Imperial Family. In 1855, the current Palace was rebuilt. It is open to the public.
1100 cherry trees and 60 early blooming weeping cherry trees are planted here.

3. Kyoto Prefectural Office former main building
The garden surrounded by the building has 7 varieties of cherry trees. The most gorgeous weeping cherry tree is planted in the center of the garden. It is the grandchild of the weeping cherry tree planted in Maruyama park.

4. Ryuhonji
It is a buddhist temple of Nichiren sect. First of all, the temple had been built by Monk Nichizo, who was a pupil of Nichiren in Shijo-omiya area in Kyoto. In 1416, the temple was named Ryuhonji.

5. Daiho-onji Temple
Called “Senboshakado“ by locals, it was founded in 1227 by Monk, Gikushonin. It is the oldest wooden structure in Kyoto and designated as a national treasure due to the fact that it survived the Onin War (1467).

6. Suikatenmangu shrine
It was founded in 923 by the order of the Emperor Daigo. It is dedicated to Michizane SUGAWARA (aristocratic scholar and politician in the Heian Period).
The view from this shrine is incredible, even though it is a small shrine.

7. Myokenji temple
It was built in 1321 as an accommodation of Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI (samurai warlord who worked successively toward the unification of Japan by force).
In front of the main gate, a giant weeping cherry tree stands. In the precinct, other cherry trees are planted.

8. Jobonrendaiji temple
It was founded by Prince Shotoku (son of the 31st emperor) and reconstructed in 960. The temple is not open to the public but you can see the tree for free. It is important that the temple is not a sightseeing spot so keep it down.
