Hi Sandra, Thank you for a lovely podcast! Your dodgy bags are a perfect size, well done, and those crochet blankets are just so beautiful 😍 I look forward to your sock pattern and the blanket tutorial! Take care, Jayleen

I ❤️your Happy Scrappy Blanket! It reminds me of the granny blankets my Grandma Tillie made. She passed away just days before my 7th birthday so I never had the chance to learn from her but I did teach myself to crochet years later (in college) and it helps me feel connected to her.

Ahh that’s so lovely. I’m exactly the same, my crochet and knitting makes me feel so connected to my grandmothers. ❤️

Sandra, Such a lovely podcast. Your Battenberg Blanket is fabulous! I've been distracted lately with a sweater project and neglected mine but watching your podcast makes me think I need to get back to it! I love the sentiment behind the second afghan you shared also. Made me think about my grandmother who lived across the street from me when I grew up. Such special memories.

terry sheehan Thank you so much!! Yes, sweaters need lots of rests I find. 😂😂. How nice to have your grandmother across the street from you, that’s so lovely as a child. ❤️

Hi Sandra! How lovely to have your podcast to keep me company this Thursday morning. I had to frog back part of a project I've been working on so it wasn't too bad that I did it while watching you this morning. The struggle is real with this whole tension, gauge issue. Been dealing with some of that myself lately. Loved how your cardigan yarn looks...such a lovely color. Goodness, I love your project bags. They look awesome! Give Señor Bertie a nice pat for me. Cheers! PS- I love seeing that blanket. Pictures just don't do it justice...it's just beautiful.

Crochet Luna oh no, have you been having tension woes too? It’s annoying, especially when you actually go to all the trouble of actually checking first! 😏😂😂

I so enjoyed this episode Sandra :) Your Wisteria shawl is perfect! I thought the proportions when you first held it up were lovely, very unusual and I mentally added the pattern to the queue inside my head straight away! :D Your (non) Dodgy Bags are fabulous. I remember when I first started watching your podcast waaaaay back when, you always talked about sewing a lot, so it's lovely to see sewing again :) Also - Choose Your Own Adventure books! Oh my goodness, blast from the past, I loved those books. Such a good idea to apply to socks. And, lastly, your two blankets are stunning!! Ali xx
@CherryHeart6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much lovely! And thank you for saying that about the Wisteria shawl, honestly it does make me feel a bit better knowing it doesn't look too odd to other's. It's nice to get another point of view after you've been obsessing about these things yourself isn't it? Tbh, I can't really see me wanting to re-make it, so I think I pop it away for a bit and hope when I get it out again, all my old hang ups will be forgotten! ;) Hope you (and you all) are doing ok generally too. 😘😘😘 S x

Love the "dodgy" bags! I have several such bags I've made, as in from recycled materials, one of my favorites is from a floral stretch denim pant leg, where I had converter a pair of pants into shorts. Makes for a great sock bag! Good luck with the cardigan! I too am more out to go my own way with patterns, garments can be a lot of guess work. I LOVE your blanket(s), and great JAYG method! I've done the other method for joining solid squares, but will try yours the next time, thanks for sharing. You always make such beautiful things and I enjoyed visiting with you. Have a lovely weekend!

DixieGirl9876 aw thanks so much my lovely. Great minds think alike, I’ve just been cutting up old jeans today ready for more bags! I agree on garments, I always seem to be guessing anyway. At least it not just me! 😘😘

A great podcast, thanks Sandra. I love, love love the Battenberg blanket, and am collecting minis so I can make my own. I've been doing a bit of sewing recently, too, and have made a dodgy bag for the MAL. I have avoided knitting garments for a long time, as they never seem to turn out very well, but some of the patterns I've seen on Instagram are definitely tempting me, and I'm looking forward to seeing how your cardigan turns out, as it looks very tempting too.
@CherryHeart6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you like it too, that thing gives me so much joy! Yes, I seem to have the same experience with garments, always a bit touch and go but like you, always getting tempted into making them. Maybe eventually practise will pay off!! ;) S x

Wow! I would have had no idea that something was off with your Wisteria Shawl. When you first held it up, I thought it was absolutely stunning! I thought it was a unique shape and size, which is nice. The colors are beautiful and this looks like it would be lovely to wear with a flowy sorting dress.

Meanwhile, at the Castle Oh thank you so much for saying so. I always like it when someone sees it with fresh eyes and because you haven’t been agonising over these details like I have you just see it for what it is. Hopefully it’ll mean I can start to look at it in a new light too. ☺️😘

My wisteria trellis is the same - it looks out of proportion. I was a bit disappointed in it, but it’s a nice scarf- it’s not really come out as a shawl for me! I’ve been looping it round as a faux cowl type thing. Trying to love it...
@CherryHeart6 жыл бұрын
Rachel Blundell oh that’s interesting. I’m assuming you did all the repeats as the pattern? I was hoping That might fix it, but maybe not then... hummm. I guess it saves remaking it. 😂😂 I shall have to do as you have done then and try to learn to love it. ☺️

I feel the same about the ends of the shawl even before you said it. I have seen other shawls that the ends are too squared off after a border too. It's not bad ... just me. I would prefer them to be at least a little rounded. But the sawl is beautiful and I wouldn't have noticed the middle being out of proportion. It won't show once it's on. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to proudly wear it.

I love doing granny squares but this year i am slow just finished a c2c blanket working on my socks have you done any crocheting with Caron cakes that blanket is gorgeous
@CherryHeart6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, I do love a granny myself too! I haven't used Caron cakes though, generally I tend to prefer to pink my own colours, but I've used the stylecraft version. For my Battenberg blanket, I'm not sewing the squares, I'm joining when I add the white squares in. It's a kind of join as you go that I came up with for this blanket! :) S x

OOh, I'm glad I found your comment again, I remembered reading the question but couldn't remember where I'd seen it.. So the stuff I get is from John Lewis, but I assume you can probably get it all kinds of places. I'm not sure if it has a special name but it has "Vlieseline F220" written on the side, it's a medium weight interfacing and it's got an iron -on coating on one side! I hope that helps. Sandra x

Why not add more rows of the gray across the top of the Wisteria Trellis shawl, to deepen it? The edging wouldn't go all the way up then, but maybe that would be okay or you could design an afterthought "corner" lace edging for that part.
