I think she's an underappreciated great vocalist. I'm not familiar with her. Great vocal acrobatics/skills. Always clear edgy belts. Her voice reminds me of yolanda adams, debelah morgan, lecresia campbell and xtina. Great job, dahling. All of singers in your channel are really talented and unknown to most people which are needed loud recognition they deserve to.

That's a really nice comprehensive vocal range video of Cheryl Pepsii Riley! I definitely appreciate her warm, bright and big voice tone, indicative of her matured lyric soprano voice in the later years. Extensive belting range and piercing head voice. She could go lower, if she wanted. She's got a very preserved voice 😊

I’ve been loving her voice for years! Beautiful acrobatics and control, great clear belts, you can tell she aims to sing clearer and more powerful low notes. and also 5:36!!

You are doing the Lord's work... thank you for the upload. I agree with that commenter below...She and Shanice sing in a similar way and sound alike. Shanice is a little younger. Cheryl is spicier and sassier but that could be her personality. It's why I'm glad she got into the theater. I loved quite a few of her songs. There was a time she was very unique in the sense she was singing about things so openly which was different from her peers then. She sang about deadbeat fathers, suicide, DV, and child abuse. I was so glad when Full Force (they help give her a start in the industry) uploaded to their channel of her singing, 'How Can You Heart The One You Love' at the Apollo and when she was on the floor crying at the breakdown about how about being abused by a lover. It sent chills through my spine. I remember her saying a long time ago that she was envious of singers that had a more "chest presence" in their voice. A singer that she grew up in choir with passed away and at the time when they were like preteen girls her voice was very high light, and thin. I think she said something about liking the thickness of her friend's voice at the time. I think later realized she has an advantage because she sings up so high and has so much freedom.

Loved her since seeing/hearing her in Tyler Perry's plays. And it's funny that you uploaded this video when you did. Just the other day, the video of her, Lil Mo, Nicole Wray, and Gina Thompson singing with Missy Elliott popped in my head. And right after I watched it, I happened upon a video of Cheryl and Amber Riley going back and forth on Superstition. Whew! Great video, yet again showcasing an underrated/underappreciated vocalist!

Cheryl always reminds me of Chaka Khan, I've only known Cheryl's work through Tyler Perry plays. Sounds like a soprano to me that voice really shines in the 5th octave.

Can you do Stefanie mills..she's classified as a mezzo soprano from her school at Juilliard. But I think shes a low light lyric soprano
@KajiVocals2 жыл бұрын
I have finished researching Stephanie recently. And not only is her voice very high but it is higher than Deniece Williams’. I’d imagine she was classified as a mezzo as she probably had no high notes at the start… I heard her say pretty directly in an interview before that she is a high soprano.
