There is his own rook in g8... If you mean g1 white is checking so there is no other reasonable move than Qxh2 which Aljechin of course played

Алехину не нравилось ставить простые маты. Он любил "издеваться" над противником, играя с ним на краю пропасти. Бывали случаи, что сам Алехин падал в пропасть, но это его стиль-не шаблонная концовка. Этому научиться нельзя. Это -русский гений.

World champ which for example Kramnik refers one of the best ever? An Indian guy who beat many top players (incl. Capablanca in a strategic masterpiece) without any knowledge of theory and formal training? These two were huge talents in chess and Aljechin had dedicated his life for the game, he was obsessed.
