So awkward, right? Sitting at the same table with your opponent while waiting for the clock to start without saying anything. That is why Magnus often comes late to the game. He wants to avoid such awkwardness.

Could be one of the reasons. Kasparov, if I remember correctly, was also notorious for the same thing. I believe it gives them a slight psychological advantage when they turn up late.

Haven't noticed it myself, but one reason is Duda broke Magnus' longest non-losing streak, and Magnus beat him a couple times after that... Also Magnus told in an interview that he takes revenge by not just beating them once but several times... They have some dynamic going on ...
