@@tonyr.3435 doing so would have made his king vulnerable, and burned a ton of time, they draw when theres no chance for either to win within time. If he moved the pawns it would take a turn where he isnt aggressing the rook which can cause a mate, easier for both to draw

You have to be pretty adept at chess just to read the board. I've tried watching chess matches with commentators and they'll get all excited about something and I don't know the game well enough to understand. They'll see a checkmate or draw coming 10 moves out. Its not for the casual observer.

Interesting editing. After Game 1, you can see Carlsen reaching for a handshake. But then cut to a different camera angle where Nakamura is grabbing the pieces. It's not immediately obvious that the camera switch cut about 2 seconds of footage. So It kinda looks like he left Carlsen hanging. But he would never do that.

I feel kind of bad for Hikaru and other super GM's like him, they got unlucky being born at a similar time to the freak of nature, once in a few hundred years, super genius type of player that is magnus. Just curious is there a reason rook F8 to d8 at 22:50 wouldn't have worked, I'm not the best chess player but I saw that while watching, and assume there would be a problem with it I don't know of

im assuming you meant to move the f8 rook to d8 to propose a trade but the d1 rook is protecting the d6 knight

I'm new to chess. At the end of the game, did Nakamura place the kings in the center of the board on the e file to indicate a draw? Or is this a personal tick of Nakamura?

You place both kings on the corresponding coloured square of the winner, in the event of a draw they sit on a colour each

And people say the London is boring. As soon as Magnus took the dark bishop I was lost. Bishop g3 is what is taught, I am going I take the bishop next time and see where where it leads. I have never done it. I am not critical I just found that little exchange interesting.

Funny how up to Minute 9:30 or so this game looks like your average Blitz game. I cannot imagine what they were thinking but given the moves, I was surprised that almost from the very beginning of the game they left pause for thought as if they did not already play exactly those moves tens of thousands of times.

Didn't know that Magnus Carlsen was the World Blitz Chess Championship 2019. 23:45 for reference. I knew that he was the champion. But to be a championship, he's on another level.
