The OKC Thunder have the scariest future of any team in NBA history. They already have 4, maybe 5, players with star to superstar level potential. One of them has already reached superstar status, another is already proving he's a star at least (Chet), and two others are already high level role players rapidly closing in on star status (J-dub and Giddey). Cason Wallace also looks incredibly good for a rookie and could also have star upside (off the bench he has a 76 TS%, a 144 Offensive Rtg, and looks like a very good defender). This doesn't even mention their other young players who may not have star upside, but already look like solid to very good contributors like Lu Dort, Isaiah Joe, Ousmane Dieng, Aleksej Pokusevski, Tre Mann, and Jaylin Williams. On top of all that, they have like 15 1st rounders over the next 6-7 years, and most of those are either not protected, lightly protected, or they are the best end of swaps that could lead to multiple lottery picks. They have an absolute war chest of ammo if they want to go out and add even more stars to this roster. We always talk about "Superteams" consisting of 3 or 4 star level players. Its pretty likely that OKC is about to create an entirely new concept: an "Ultrateam" where they legitimately have an entire starting lineup of stars with a couple bench players who would be stars anywhere else. Imagine if this year or next year, they package some of those picks with a few of their non-core players to go out and get big time talent. Let's say they traded Bertans, Dort, Poku, Joe, and Jaylin alongside 6-7 of their draft picks to go out and get a couple players along the lines of Pascal Siakim and Mikel Bridges (not necessarily them, but players along those lines). I think that'd be more than enough to trade for those players, and they would still have plenty of assets to spend if they wanted. And they would be 6-7 deep in absolute BALLERS. I'm a Nuggets fan, but OKC scares the shit out of me long term lol.

I think Denver fans can actually see the building process of the thunder because they just went through it. I appreciate your knowledge of our team. I can see some battles in the western conference finals between us for the next 7 years

Incredibly well said. This "ultrateam" is the God killer, dynasty killer, the perfect recipe to tear down the tyranny of big market super teams. Depth is the new MVP. No big 3 will be enough to stop a team capable of scoring 70 off the bench. Nobody.

IT was like Shai realized that Chet got them to the overtime and told him "alright kid you got this team 5 more min, let me go ahead and close this out for our team" This is what Shai has been patiently waiting for and Presti has rewarded him for his patience by putting all perfect pieces together for him. Absolutely love the team mindset they all have. They have bought into it and Im just glad that as a fan I can be along for the ride.

Ralph Sampson won Rookie of the Year. The Lakers made an offer to trade Kareem for him. In his second year, he was MVP of the All-Star Game. In his third year, he led his team to the NBA Finals, showing up Magic and Kareem before turning in a respectable performance against the greatest Celtics team of all time. Then the knee, back and foot issues detonated his career. The physical rigors of professional-level basketball are just tough on those kinds of body types. Those last couple of inches just always seem to lead to the injuries multiplying. Ralph Sampson was unquestionably great but only for a short period of time before he just wore out.

OKC has the draft capital and slew of young role players to trade for literally anybody in the league. I think they will make a run at Indy’s Myles Turner (a stretch 5 but with traditional size) to stack with Chet at the 4. They will continue to play position-less basketball with versatility top to bottom. The NBA is on notice.

For the first few games Chet just shot the absolute lights out. He was on something silly like 60% from three at one stage. Then when he became a marked man at the arc he really started showing people wat he could do. If a big man tries to block him he's too quick and skillful for them so he just fakes and goes around them. But now that move is on everyone's radar so now defense's have no plans for him 😂 You either let him shoot it or you look like an idiot by trying to block it.

Small sample size but what he is showing right now? Anything is the limit. Granted he stays healthy, he'll be up there with the other faces of the NBA.

Sorry, saying he was the best player is obnoxious. Sorry. I just can’t deal with arrogance. Kareem never said such a thing when he was a rookie.

Cus Thunder are a way better team, honestly would not be surprised if he won ROY over Wemby Lol but come on lets be honest, a "rookie" whose in his 2nd year is always gonna have an advantage

Wemby leads in ppg, reb, blocks and steals yet somehow chet is better? What does Wemby have to do? This is the worst Wemby will be and he's still better than chet and 2 years younger. I'm not hating on Chet. I'm always pulling for Minnesota players but let's be real here.

Wemby and Chet are the gifts of the basketball gods. Wemby will win the ROY but Chet will always be there chasing him and the rivalry will give us basketball fans something to talk about for 15 years.

@@carlocalingasan998 I didn't mention Chet. But since we're talking about Chet, you're going to penalise him for being drafted by OKC and give it to Wemby because the Spurs suck? That's not how ROTY works.

@@sabbathguy1 I’m not penalizing. It’s the league who has penalized Kobe and Steph. Kobe lost to Iverson while Steph lost to Tyreke Evans because they were the main guy. Steph and Kobe were playing behind established stars. Unless it’s a weak pool you can’t win ROY if you are not the main guy.
