Does Morris deserve to die, yes, but will that bring peace to the siblings, only temporarily. I think what Chevreuse was going for was something we learn about her later. Morris would be stained with a bad reputation after his secret is exposed, committing fraud on Xavier, and sabotage of filming equipment. We learn later how Chevreuse grew up at Fleuve Cendre and it's because she became known as a criminal's daughter after her father was charged for something he had done which I am guessing it's something he did while on the job. That rep lead her to hide in the sticks until she was old enough to clear her father's name and took his place. A bad rep is more damaging for someone like Morris and one example of that would be what happened with Callas.

Putting it simply, Morris hearing that Xavier wanted to adapt the Two Musketeers, he accepted the offer only to back out last minute feigning financial problems in attempts to screw over Xavier so the film could not be made fearing his secret from coming to light. However, Xavier got strokes of good luck one after another. It's almost like the gods really want to give Morris his just desserts. Then when the film was nearing completion along with the copycat murder culprit being caught, Morris attempts to ruin all the hard work done to prevent his secret from being exposed but it was to no avail as despite his attempts to sabotage the film was finished and was sent off for finalizing. He later wound up falling into a trap set by Cheveruse and everyone and thus exposing his secret while also revealing Veronique being the true copycat murder culprit. The novel Two Musketeers maybe a work of fiction but the events did happen with the difference being Veronique is the only musketeer while her brother is a musketeer who fights without a gun and wrote the novel to tell their story and to take the blame to avoid Veronique from being discovered. Veronique jumped at the opportunity to film the Two Musketeer as it was the means for her and her brother to move forward and to expose Morris. She told Xavier who offered continued collaboration that she will be traveling was another way of her saying she is going to leave Fontaine after ending Morris's life since she would be targeted by the law otherwise. Even with Baptiste taking the blame for it, Cheveruse had pieced everything together after knowing Baptiste's father was Morris and then finding out about Veronique's relationship with Baptiste and that the latter has no skills in assembling muskets. Veronique angered at why Cheveruse wouldn't do what was necessary after knowing the truth as to them, his death is the only closure they can accept. However, much to Veronique's dismay, Cheveruse tells her Morris's death would cause the siblings more trouble because of what he is and that they won't get peace from it. Doing things by the book, Cheveruse arrests both her and Morris to be dealt with by Fontaine. She made the right call all things considered and it's not like Morris will be scott free either as the full truth about his actions will be exposed both to the world through the film and in court. Sort of like the American Sniper trial. At least Morris would be charged for filming sabotage even if he wouldn't be charged for murder. Morris would have to pay Xavier for the damages he pulled and charged for fraud. Chevreuse knows how much more damaging a bad rep can be since she knows first hand and a bad rep for someone like Morris will bring him eternal shame.
