The Chevrolet Bolt is the follow up to the Chevrolet Volt that came out roughly six years ago. Unlike the Volt, the Bolt is a pure electric car with a 60kwh battery pack and 383km of electric range. The Chevy Bolt starts at $43,000 in Canad and the Premier model is $48,000. As tested, the Bolt was on track to drive 440km on a single charge, better than the official number of 383km. This is a the breakthrough electric ar the market has been waiting for. With provincial incentives of $14,000 in Ontario, $8000 in Quebec and $5000 in British Columbia, the Bolt is reach to more people than ever before.

I'm a Volt owner. I'm coming up on a full year of ownership in October and love it. I've been saying for years why can't they make good looking EV? The Volt isn't bad looking put the Bolt battery in the Volt.

My cousin has a 2014 Nissan Leaf, he replaced a 2001 Mercedes SUV with it. In the first month he realized that not having to buy gas or have an oil change and just having to plug the car in every night, he was saving over $ 500 in the first month alone. But here in New Brunswick, with Irving Oil, the gas engine is still king.

I have a 2017 volt. The regen on demand paddle is by far my favorite feature.

Of note that you don't spend 9 hours on the 20 kW AC home charger every day, only if you almost deplete the battery. If you drive like 100 km in a day, it will take an hour or two to recharge and half an hour or less on a 50 kW DC fast charger.

Great review! Second person that I hear from that the range exceeds a base Tesla S 60kw! Btw, not professional related but that body of Lacey plugging the car is ummm...outstanding! :)

I am wondering why with the same battery capacity the twin brother Opel Ampera e in Europe has nominal 520 km of range?

I'd really like to know what the WINTER range is in the Bolt. Even in my Prius, I drop quite a bit...around 150 k per tankful.

Assuming that the battery is fully discharged, how many kilowatts of electricity does it take to fully re-charge the battery?

Thanks for this. Is it an optical illusion or are those front seat backs quite narrow and rather thin? Love the range but are people going to be able to actually sit for that long on those seats...
