I have loved all Corvette's since a child! I have owned many including all the C's. I owned C-1, 1959, C-2 a 1967. All series, Since then. I just purchased a 2015 Corvette eight speed automatic. Of all the Corvettes of her own, this one seems to be the nicest. Incredible technology, incredible Agility, stability, and I hope reliability. For anyone that has never owned it the stingray Corvette, you will not be disappointed! This is the nicest Corvette of the produced! It's made to enjoy!

I just got a new C7. Only 500 miles on it. I researched the hell out of it's competitors ( most of them foreign) and I went with the new Vette because its a raw V8 rear drive sports car with a great manual gearbox and it looks incredible. I'm not sure watching this video makes me feel better or worse about the reliability I am hoping for with this car. It's not so much the uniforms they are not wearing but watching a 22 year old kid in jeans and a T-shirt screwing together my 70k sports car is an image I'm going to have to forget. This is what has kept American car quality in the low ranks for decades. And I'm from Detroit saying this.

Back when I was a automotive supplier in 1979, the original Corvette plant ( 8 JPH) was part of the mammoth GMAD St. Louis, MO assembly complex. The Corvette plant was the smallest building next to the large assembly plant building Pickups (50 JPH) and Chevy Caprices (70 JPH) (AKA: B car). This was GM's biggest production plant in the North America at that time. GM moved Corvette production to an all new assembly plant Bowling Green, KY only because the St. Louis city government refused to help and provide a Tax break to GM for a new plant in St Louis. so GM closed the old plant down and left town. Now look at that part of the city in St, Louis, it's a big open eye sore for the city. BTW, when the new plant opened, all Corvette employees were offered a chance to transfer to Bowling Green, all expenses paid by GM. That was a best decision GM made.

why are people bitching about not having uniforms? uniforms suck, and the general public dont even see these people working, aside from this video, so why tf would they need a uniform?? I work for a Company Called Alliant Techsystems (ATK) and we produce the vast majority of police, military, and sporting ammunition and we dont have to wear uniforms. It's the best part about the job. you just go to work, no worrying if your uniform is cleaned, or ironed, or any of that BS, and the workers are generally happier about it. I sure as hell am. I couldn't imagine going back to a job that required a uniform now.
@RobertPlattBell9 жыл бұрын
In a car plant, a uniform has advantages. Jeans with rivets, large metal belt buckles and the like, can scratch paint and interior trim pieces. Most car companies provide uniforms for this reason. I'm kind of shocked they are not used here.
@parteibonza9 жыл бұрын
Yup. it removes the elements of danger to the employee as well (loose clothing equals danger, and depending on what they wear, it might get them hurt if metal pieces pinch or jab). I'm surprised you don't demand your company to supply uniforms. I hate to get my clothes worn/dirty while at work. Company should pay to clean them as well. Then you wouldn't have to worry about cleaning or ironing your clothes and you would have less stress at work :)
@frostbite19919 жыл бұрын
I work with highly explosive mix that has green dye in it and i dont worry about my clothes. We have a dress code- no baggy clothes, must be at least 60% cotton to reduce static, and we have to wear the supplied denim aprons. I love being able to wear my own clothes to work. Uniforms suck. And there has never been an incident due to someones clothing...

Just to prove that everything is anecdotal, I've never had any major issues with my German cars (currently on my third) but my North American cars were garbage and I'll never, ever, ever buy a domestic car.:)

I have to agree with you. I'm on my 2nd Chevy Silverado. However, I also drive a Mustang V-6. It gets better gas mileage--ha ha.

I would love to work here. Building my dream car. People are complaining about the casual dress, but if they all had uniforms that's all money out of pocket. Gotta find a way to save money some how.
@parteibonza9 жыл бұрын
I concur about saving money, but if this wasn't a union shop, I would definitely demand employer buy uniforms and pay to clean/press them. Since its union...the union would decide if its worth to negotiate. I'm sure employees would rather have that money in their pocket. The end result is what we see here: Sloppy dress.

These union workers make lots more money than most people---the uniform cost would be a drop in the bucket for either management or employee.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Assembly Plant
@joegotz19716 жыл бұрын
I had a tour of the assembly plant in Kentucky. The first thing I noticed was a man about 30 years old, high top sneakers, flower print pants that he purchased on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ., a sleeveless untucked t-shirt and a butt hanging out of his mouth. We asked the guide, “how is this possible?” He replied “The UAW. Negotiated it” So there you have it! And more robots to do the work that was once done by people. If you ever watched “A Bronx Tale” Sonny says “Nobody Cares”! And that my friends is why we will become a third world country. And BTW I had 5 Corvettes, 1989, 1995, 1995 ZR-1, 1996 Grand Sport, and a 2000 with A Caravaggio interior and a car on Vette Magazine cover. The new Stingray is the best looking car on the road today. I hope GM can keep it all together. Reports show the auto industry is heading for the crapper!

Those huge yellow fans look like they came from Wally World? Besides....when working like they are doing I never wanted AC,just keep air moving with a box fan and you'll be fine.
