You don't need to remove the bottom around the gear shift lever trims or anything or the trim around the window switches just pull the center around the stereo that's it.

So what was the fix to the static and only the two twitters in the pillars working?

thank you for the video. my stereo works great but none of my speakers work other then the tweeters just like you mentioned. i have read a few forums that suggest the speakers are poorly made and should be replaced. looks like i may be replacing stereo and speakers soon.

I used to work for a stereo shop. Gm had a few years that I guess their door seals would leak or something, but it would cause the door speakers to go out. Most the time I seen it, the tweeters worked but the rest didn’t. Sometimes seemed like they all went out, and around the same time. But if you come across this problem with no sound, chances are your speakers are done. Not the unit itself. I don’t know if this year falls into that category, but it was a lot of different models, from trucks down to cars. I was thinking around 08 or so and up. Just something for everyone to keep in mind as Chevy owners. I hope that helps somebody stopping by to check this video out.

Very well made video! I can't imagine why anyone would hit the dislike button on this one. I've seen many and this is one of the better showing every step needed for this particular vehicle's stereo to be taken out and installed. Again, Nice Job!!

My wife's HHR had the same thing after we bought it I had to replace all four speakers wasn't hard to replace. I also replace the stereo. And the speakers we used were Kickers.

Funny story, my dad had an ‘06 HHR, and one time he replaced the stock stereo with an aftermarket Alpine stereo, but after that the car started experiencing electrical problems, good thing he hid the original stock stereo in his closet so anyways, he took out the aftermarket Alpine stereo and reinstalled the stock stereo until the car finally died in February 2016, it died because some installed a spark plug wrong and it melted through the engine, those weren’t the only problems it had, it was also involved in the GM ignition recalls and eventually the power steering broke one night as we were driving home from a friend’s house, and my dad doesn’t deal with those problems anymore with his ‘14 Mercedes-Benz GLK350 which is an amazing car(even though it’s not AMG, not 4Matic, not Bluetec) it’s hasn’t broken down yet and it has 66k Miles now, and my uncle said that my dad’s lucky to get one of the last rear wheel drive Mercedes’, because when my dad bought it was the year the stopped making them and replaced them with the new GLC’s, and the GLK’s have became popular since then, I see them on the road all the time, because everyone turns their leases in after about a couple years and gets something else, and people buy the 2 year old lease returns because they’re a steal of a deal

Is there a touch screen GPS radio with backup camera that will just plug into this HHR vehicle? I know camera wires might need to be ran if it's not a wireless camera. I just want to replace the factory unit with a navigation one but I don't want to be splicing wires and trying to figure out what goes where. Does anyone know?

I have a problem with my 2007 HHR radio also. Speakers just pop in and pop out. Sometimes it's all the left side, sometimes it;s all the right or sometimes just the front or just the rear. Or any combination of speakers. Rarely do they all work at the same time. Any ideas? (Great video by the way!)

The panel around the radio (with the passenger airbag light) is often referred to as the "waterfall", and you don't need to remove lower panels to get it out in my '08.. just be gentle. I have mine out in about 3 minutes.

My 2006 hhr stereo display blinks and then goes off. It will pop back on after a while but mostly blinks off. Plays fine, but no clock or display. Could it be a wire?

Excellent video. I too have an HHR with the same problem you mentioned in the video. The tweeters work, but the speakers in the doors do not. Some forums mentioned that the speakers get wet. I have noticed that my speakers do not work in the morning but in the late afternoon after sitting in the heat, they work. Or, after driving for a while, the speakers begin working again. Did you ever determine what was wrong with this HHR's speakers? What was the solution? Recommend any good speakers? I was thinking about marine grade speakers to replace mine if the issue is moisture.

My HHR radio plays the tweeter speakers only just like your video. I saw how you took part the dash piece by piece and then reinstalled everything. My question is what did you find wrong that fixed the speaker problem as you said you were going to trouble shoot that later and your video ended before that process.

My 2008 HHR radio works fine at times but for no apparent reason the volume drops to what sounds like just a whisper. It's not loud enough to make anything out being said but loud enough to hear they are still on. Then it will come back on & be fine for a while---everything sounds perfectly normal. I'm probably going to the junk yard to get a different OEM radio unless someone has other thoughts.

My problem is i hear the radio like at 4:58 with no bass and medium sound. Sometime it go well, it's intermittent.

I was in a small front end wreck recently and after the wreck my speakers go on and off. Tweeters at windshield remain on as normal. now before I go and rip apart my dash, could someone more experienced tell me if this is a good place to start or does this sound like a different issue? my CD player stop playing in my HHR 2006 but the radio plays very good I can put CD in and ejected that's all no sound nothing before I came here out of all speakers then I can only hear out of one speaker in the back on the passenger side but not all of it has stopped other than the radio plays very well sound all over???

Same problem with 2011 HHR

If your speakers don't work the problem is the speakers. remove and Test the old speakers first if you want to insure they are the problem and don't work before you replace them of course. If they do NOT work, the PROBLEM is >> Water has gotten to them and shorted them out. Water gets into the doors and runs into the speaker wiring terminal on the speaker. You will need to replace the speakers. clean the tiny connection points in the terminal with a tiny jewelers screwdriver or something similar. use a lot of die-electric grease on the cleaned connections. And waterproof the new ones if you want when you install them- either by putting saran wrap over them and make a tiny hole for where the connector goes in or the die-electric grease also. your system should now work.

wow some one knows about stupid piece of junk that made in China junk they even give decent brakes junk that I bought bad news still to figure out why the power steering doesn't work or the radio only the work got the back speakers to work for 2 days then working of course it's junk 😉 hahaha garbage what choices do you duh. I'm glad you know what to do about that would love to from about the radio going put dual xdm17spk4 in to replace that piece junk so I can have some jams instead of my usless phone speaker like to insite about is their a cure I tested the speakers and the radio aplenty nptthing wrong according to the car it's mess but recalls on weird guess your got know someone . really would you're insite really definitely from someone so with dumb car right now and radio from Walmart really doesn't make sense to me looks like radio face you take off your car to keep people from stealing it but says it's a radio for 30 bucks looks good not sure though would love to hear what you think about it .
