Step by step instructions to replace a camshaft position solenoid valve, also known as a VVT. This video is on a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado 3.6 with a code P0014.
Extremely easy swap. It takes about 15 minutes to make the swap.
One thing that I forgot to mention. When you unbolt the intake butterfly valve, DO NOT UNPLUG. Leave it plugged in, just roll it over to the side.
UPDATE: GM has changed the part number than what you see on the box in this video. The new part number is 12707054.

Thank you for this video! I was able to easily replace this part. First had a p0019 code for a while but no symptoms then got the p0024 code with it and found your video when researching. Legit woulda only took me 15 minutes if the sensor didn't wanna be a pain getting out lol. Also as of now the part number has changed from the 12687167 to 12707054 for the Chevy Colorado 2018 just an fyi for anyone searching as of 2023 😊

I found a thread somewhere that showed the valve was re-designed ,they changed the screens on the valve because they were disintegrating but No recall because it was an intermittent defect.

I had two codes for my Colorado. 2019 70,000 mi One for thermostat and one for camshaft bank two exhaust. I replaced the thermostat myself and the camshaft code went away. The symptoms were rough idling and at times on really cold mornings (NY) my remote start wouldn’t work, and the fans would stay on 10 minutes after the truck was off. I’m also going to change the transmission fluid because the shifting is a little rough. But other than that it’s reliable 😂.

Awesome video. I am about to do this on my 2018 ZR2. Just to make sure I get the right part, and I'm not crazy, is the new part number #12647904? Looks like it might have changed again. This is on the GM parts shop website. Thanks for the video!

Other than added cost, are there any additional cons to replacing all four at the same time? I plan on doing this myself and since it’s a common issue, I would rather replace all of them at the same time. Would this mess with the performance at all? Any advice would be wonderful.
@justinsealey23

I don't think there are any cons about doing them all at the same time. I think that you would have piece of mind know that all of them are replaced!
@Cirux321

They're actually pretty cheap realistically. It may not be necessary, but given for $100 or less, it is worth it in the long run. I'm also the kind of person who replaces all four of my O2 sensors at the same time rather than just one bank or the other.

I have a 2018 Colorado that's throwing a P10014 code for Exhaust Camshaft Position Timing Bank 1. I'm finding conflicting information on the location of the part. Below is a link to another video saying the sensors are on the back of the motor and not in the front. From this video you can see the sensors outlined here. How do I know which is actually correct? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oq6dlbSG3JPMgHU.html

Hello, and thank you for watching. I cannot stand behind the video in that link. That motor doesn't look the same and neither does the engine bay. My video is for the variable valve timing solenoids, also known as the "camshaft position solenoid valve" in the GM handbook. As you can see by the many comments following this video, so many people have had success repairing this issue. I do hope that you are able to resolve you issue. Thank you again for watching.
