Some low down mechanic would have lied and sold the owner a new compressor plus labor. God bless all honest mechanics. I like your vids.

ive over spent on mechanics giving bad advise on my 2000 silverado. I just spent over 5k on my truck. 3k at one auto place and 2k at another place. Still having problems with brakes and oil leaks. Now my ac isn't working and im giving youtube a try before I spend another thousand dollars to get that fixed. Glad I dont have a truck payment but maybe I need one to get away from all these problems...

Thanks for this. This is exactly what happened today to my 2010 colorado. I found that gear through the glove box and saw exactly what you have in your video. I was worried that it was going to be a chore to get this fixed. I could take it to a dealer and file a warranty on it but given the simplicity of the fix, I will try this myself.

@mrjost55 You are right. Shop owners should provide vehicle owners a service bay and tools and guidance, all for free and let them see if they can fix it themselves. The owner is probably out an hour labor fee at most, instead of the fee for R&R a compressor or evaporator, system evacuate and recharge, so what's your problem?

CHEAP FI X FOR THE REPAIR I found out that restarting my truck reset the system and it then would again work properly. This caused me to realize it was an electrical problem. I found a ten amp fuse under the hood marked HVC-ECAS, varified pulling it shut off the ac light under the ac control inside. I lifted the fuse panel, cut the wire to the fuse, soldered two wires to the two ends, brought them inside and to a NC button that now serves as a reset button. IT WORKS GREAT! Cheap repair.

I have a 2007 Silverado 1500 far as I know from 04-07 AC resistor problems if you know your a_c was working fine it's going to probably be the resister check that first it's located where your blower fan is its on the passenger side, you will see a wire harness going to the plastic blower tube, unscrew the usually to screws, pull it out you might see it burnt you might not the wire usually will look melted unplug the harness and look inside where it plugs into you should see a couple prongs melted with the plastic this will usually be a problem if your heater comes on and you have your AC on don't go to Chevy dealers you will pay 50 for each I went to o'reillys and got both of them 64 dollars don't just get a resistor if the plug is melted a little bit you will have problems with it later anyways get both don't be cheap

If your air flow isn't right or doesn't change it could be a blend door actuator, if it isn't that check the pressure on the AC system. You could need a system recharge.

+baddboy64 Hi: my friend bow you should have figured out that you said GM, those two letter spell trouble, as for your A/C if your lines are cold and hot under the hood and the compressor is working, then it is more than likely a door stuck in the case or you have a bad actuator somewhere, God forbid if your Body Control Module or your Engine computer has went sour, I would focus on the A/C and Heating Control, to be frank it could be a number of issues causing this problem, my 1999 siverado A/C went out in the summer of 2003 and has not worked since, been to many shops with the same old crap I can fix it no problem, weeks later they still have not found the issue that keeps my hot and cold actuator from operating, I will be going to my 5th shop here in a few weeks, now these last 5 shops are here in Texas, the other hundred were in Louisiana, most of my problem is no one wants to take an hour or so and trace the bad wire or connector, most of the shops willing to try to fix this issue start out at $1000.00 just to look at it and maybe tell me what I need to fix the truck. well I wish you luck on getting your A/C fixed.

quick question, quick answer. It sounds like it is capable of creating the cold which indicates it is NOT a problem with the compressor or refrigerant level. That leaves a distribution of the cold air as the problem. Other than that the quick answer needs hands on testing.

There is a door that is actuated normally by turning the system off, if you still get a good amount of air flow try setting the system to recirculated air, if that doesn't help you either have a bad servo motor on that door, or debris stuck in the door keeping it from closing fully, an easy fix, but not easy to get to
