Chevy's Midsize Crossover Is A Solid, If Not Exciting Crossover | 2022 Chevrolet Blazer RS

For 2022 the Blazer's price tag increases thanks to more standard power and features. Thankfully GM decided to stop trying to compete with the least expensive competition and focus on refining their solid mid-size competitor. But is that enough to convince you to opt for Chevy's "Camaro Inspired" CUV? At least they didn't call it a "CamaroCross".

The main difference between this and the equinox is the platform. This was built on the traverse platform, and the one MAJOR advantage of this over everything else in the category, including the cherokee, grand cherokee, edge and so on, is the 2000lb payload rating. This thing has insane payload for what it is, and 5 people, all their cargo, and a 4000lb trailer still don't overload this thing They NEED to put the 5.3 V8 in this thing. It was designed for FWD, they had it in the Impala SS about 12 years ago. This thing with a 5.3 and AWD would be absolutely insane. I would say the 2.7T would also work but they just put that torque through the roof and I doubt the 9 speed can handle 420lbft

Last Friday, I picked up my 2022 Black on Jet Black Blazer RS. I test drove the '23... the extra inch on the wheels ruin the ride a bit, and I actually like the smaller screen allowing for the flat grippy dash to be utilized when working in park etc... I think they should save the V8 for an SS version later, I got a great deal, and prefer the lines of the 2022 over the '23 as well. I grabbed one of 2 remaining *new 2022's within 300 miles, fully loaded, sunroof etc... I'm happy w/ it, for 43k. one year later lol... and that's about the time I was sharing a vehicle after an accident... I agree w/ you 100.... it's just different, solid, feels heavy, built right, no creaking... Very happy w/ it. I want to say it's the 2019 debut, tweaked and perfected before the '23 "refresh."

James.... agreed. ALL American automakers are so far behind their European and Asian competitors when it comes to sharp interior design, materials, and trends in style for the inside of the car. Non-American makes have so much more creativity, luxury feels, and sylish looks. Makes it hard to pick an American car over them. The Sata Fe is a great example of this compared to the Blazer, yet not just this example. I also wish ALL automakers would Stop with this ugly "pop-up" info-tainment tablet that "raises out" and up above the dashboard. Never have been a fan of that design and I see it in almost every car now. I prefer a continious inset design that is larger and emdedded into the dash. Some makes and models do have it now, but too many are using the style that raises up out and looks like a tablet sticking out of your dashboard. I've ways wondered if that is a possible safety concern in the event of a collision.

I wish Chevy was a more reliable vehicle. We have owned 3 chevy's and each one cost us gut wrenching amounts of money to keep running. Each was purchased each less than 4 years old with less than 50k miles and we traded them in before 80k because we could not afford to keep fixing all the issues. We had a 2007 Equinox, 2012 Malibu, 2015 Impala. Every single one of those vehicles left us stranded multiple times. (Head gasket issues, Electronics, wiring, computers, fuel pumps, CV joints, Alternators, AC Compressor.) All of these issues were between 50k-80k miles. FAR to many issues for it to be a fluke. I love the look of chevy, but reliability is more important to me. Toyota all the way for us now until American made can last past 100k. EDIT: for all the people asking "Why did you keep buying chevy's" Well, those chevys were spread out among 3 different people. One person was not buying chevy each time. 3 different people bought 3 different chevy at the recommendation of 2 different friends. As stated before. We love chevy styling, and we have learned from our mistakes. All different vehicles.

I find it so annoying how so many other reviewes obsess about the "manual shifting" (grear select) functionality and how it doesnt have paddle shifters therefore its bad. It's not designed for sporty self-shifting, as you point out, its there for low speed towing and engine breaking. Thanks for detailing how it works. We bought the Honda Passport AWD. Roomy, plenty of cargo space, wide comfortable seats. V6, 9 spd. auto EX-L trim. Couldn't pass up the price... with only $2000 down, our monthly lease is $361 for 36 months. I think that's a steal for the type of vehicle we got. Yes, it was brand new. I just picked up one of the last *new 2022 Black on Jet Black Blazer RS in my area of 300 miles... It has the Panoramic Sunroof, NA 3.6L V6 w/ 4 cylinder eco mode while maintaining gears over distance. It's fully loaded w/ *20" wheels that make it a smoother ride against the 2023 I test drove back to back. Not to mention I feel the lines and edges are exactly what I wanted if I got an SUV... I love the flat dash, the individual climate control, stadium seating, driver presets for steering column/ seats, fan cooled and heated seats, heated steering wheel etc... All this is to say, if you can find a *new 2022 RS, Grab it now! the 2024 has been announced, the 2023 only has the larger screen that *for me... gets in the way of the grippy flat dash and if not able to relay a video signal, not worth the extra 5k, as well as losing some sportier lines/ exterior aesthetic of it's 2022 counterpart... I drove off the lot w/ 53 miles on this vehicle, it cost me 43k after 2 promotional discounts... and I'm absolutely in love w/ it. Took me 11 months of looking at small/ med pickups, SUVs that don't look like UFO's and Banks GMC/Chevy out of Concord, NH wasn't playing pricing games w/ me from the jump. I love this vehicle, I work in operational/ maintenance for the state, this is exactly what I wanted w/ a more than modest look, but heavy solid feel... it's just different... The first time you close the door, you'll know what I mean. I can't think of a feature I'd want, that the 2022 Blazer RS doesn't have, or can't be optioned in that the '23 has... Truly a home run imo.

A few things I'm disappointed on, is the fact that this is a FWD based model, and/or no performance model. One can be remedied if a new engine can be applied. If you are giving it a Camaro look, it should be a RWD based model. If not a RWD based model. The LF3 FWD/AWD 3.6tt (from the XTS V-Sport) would be a perfect match for this SUV. With all the supply chain constraints, why does GM still advertise at all? Also, I'm somewhat surprised to see recycled tech from over 6 years ago. GM will continue to expand the Hummer lineup, it won’t stop after the truck and SUV. A Bronco fighter could be in the works. I wouldn’t be so hard on GM, look at the GMC Hummer EV, besides the price tag, it’s an awesome off-road truck. It has features that the Bronco and Wrangler doesn’t even offer. Lots of folks are willing to pay $100,000+ for the Hummer, reservations are full.

In my opinion a chevrolet blazer 2022 I like an exterior design, the problem is interior they need to improve to make with a digital gauge cluster like Chevrolet Silverado 2022 and entertainment touch screen need to be improve with bigger size of touch screen and software but air vents need to change place it should be a top of entertainment touch screen it will look good. For V6 engine it should be upgrade up to 350 hp. For 4 cylinder turbo engine it needs to be more than 250 hp. The last disadvantage of a Chevrolet blazer 2022 it is not available with auto fold side mirrors. Otherwise a Chevrolet it is really amazing design of exterior and affordable price with American competitive like a Ford edge.

IIRC, its a 10y warranty on powerplant, and its surprising how they've snuck up on the Japanese for qualty vs price. When Consumer Reports rates the quality of cars, it surveys its own subscribers. So it’s really capturing the opinions of a universe of its own subscribers who fill out surveys. JD Power captures a wider audience, but it’s also capturing the opinions of car owners who fill out surveys. I’m not convinced those are statistically valid methods. And that’s why I like the IHS Markit loyalty awards. Every year IHS Markit analyzes over 12 million new vehicle registrations to see what kind of car people had, and what kind of new car they went out and bought or leased. That allows Markit to measure which companies, brands and models have the highest loyalty. 12 million is a lot, and there are no surveys to fill out, so I like that methodology. Guess which car companies have the highest loyalty? GM and Ford. They usually don’t do that well when CR or JD Power rate them. But having the highest loyalty speaks loud and clear about their quality. JD Power and Consumer Reports also rate Land Rover and Alfa Romeo at the bottom. But IHS Markit shows Land Rover has the highest loyalty with full size luxury SUV owners. And Alfa Romeo is the most improved.... Years ago the Packard Motor Company’s advertising slogan was “Ask The Man Who Owns One.” That’s kind of sexist way to state it today, but it’s also considered one of the most effective taglines in the history of automotive advertising. Top union guys at a local engine plant are making less than $40/hr after 30 years. Assuming this is normal for most UAW workers pay-scale wise, things are nothing like they were before the Big Three tumbled a couple decades ago along with the bail-outs, etc. Some of the equipment there is just decades old, and its considered 'smart' to keep dumping money in fixing it vs buying newer, more modern equipment as it comes out of OpEx vs CapEx. Saving pennies is worth more than improving quality according to the MBA's in Detroit, reputation can always be regained by a slick marketing campaign so they say...
