Ugly duckling? My ass! When I was a kid, we had an '82 Malibu Classic wagon. Dad drove it for 15 years. Sold it with 180k. I wish I had it now.

It's absolutely beautiful compared to the GARBAGE being made today. And it was carbureted and rear wheel drive. There was a police package available. Wouldn't at all mind having one of those.

They never had an inline v6. 3.8l v6 and a 305 later on. Some v8s were 265ci.

I think you meant they 'never had an Inline six'. Maybe also they had a Chevy-only V-6, 229 cid......( ?! )

The looks were basically plain, but the ride was very soft. I owned a 1977 Grand Prix before getting the Malibu 3 years later, had it 20 years.

I'll take a 4 door Malibu Classic with a 3.8 or 305 any day. I've been looking for a decent one to make as a my regular driver. They are way better than the newer Malibu's & they are RWD.

I bought a 1978 Malibu Classic new. 4-door, 305 automatic. Only beef I had was the rear door windows were fixed in place and only had small wing windows in the C-pillars.

We had an '81 that was the same way. Even at 10 years old, I couldn't understand why the rear windows wouldn't roll down.

I have been looking for a clean 4 door malibu with a v8. Spoked hubcaps and all. Throw in a 502 with full exhaust and a set of fat tires and nobody will see you coming. Quiet and quick

Sorry, but I loved the wagon version of this generation Malibu. I know folks who have put in 350 engines in these for drag racing.

Would be great if there were many of those 2 dr models left. Making great restomod toys for enthusiasts. Rear wheel drive cars make much better projects .
