I bought a 2008 GMC Canyon new. The owners manual stated that if I undercoat vehicle, it would void certain parts of the warranty, so I did not undercoat.. under my truck looked almost as bad as the trunk in this vehicle after nine years. So I traded my truck in and bought a new Dodge ram 1500. I spent five days rustproofing that truck with fluid film. I took the headlights out, the tail lights out, the inner fender liners out,I sprayed in every plug under the truck, inside every frame hall, I took down the spare tire in hand coded the aluminum rim with fluid film, I even sprayed under the treads on the rear bumper. So I could coat everything with fluid film to prevent rust.

As much as these trucks cost , there should'nt be a rust problem in my opinion . 40 to 60 thousand dollars for a new Chevy truck and it rusts out within 10 years, thats a shame ! I live in east Tennessee and we don't get much snow here. You can by a small house for what we are paying for these trucks, only to have them rust the way they do. Even the top of my truck cab is rusting, you'd think Chevy could do better preventing rust as much as they are charging for their vehicles.

I purchased a new Silverado in '13 it's been the worst truck I've ever owned and my last after multiple complaints about oil consumption that they said oh that's normal well using a quart a week in a new truck I beg to differ. My engine blew at 102 K $ 8500 out of pocket to fix then my transmission went out at 113k $ 4200 out of pocket now it's rusting out on the rear quarters which seems like an inch a day. General motors not only scammed the American taxpayers out of their hard earned money for their a bailout they are Fking over the working class people that purchased their shit. I've put a little over 14 k into a 2013 truck with all of the major and minor problems I've had. What is the point of buying a new truck if it's no more reliable than a old used vehicle. My entire family has been loyal GM customers and we will no longer be purchasing their garbage I have spoken with 4 other individuals who owned a Silverado either the same year as mine or close to it and they also have had all the same problems. When I bought my '99 Sierra it was in worse condition than yours by a long shot, I keep the rust down by not driving it in the winter if I can help it but that being said whatever IDOT puts on the roads must stick around clear till spring as the rust is accelerating year after year despite frequent undercarriage washes and drives through flooded roads, front end of the truck is in decent shape only because the engine and transmission leaked so profusely for many years before I bought it, once I fixed the leaks it took but a year to deteriorate, most rust is body related, frame is still structural, will need a new bed as about the only thing keeping it together is the bedliner and brackets I welded in

Brian Gaddis I’ve seen much worse than mine driving around LOL. But yes, it’s paid for and it fires right up. Saving my pennies right now to get a newer truck. 👍

What's rusted on the truck doesn't affect the safety aspect..... the frame does

The Daninator I’m in NC but my truck came from Jersey. Underneath in the back of my truck is awful, bumper had rust holes. Had to replace hoses, brake line and rear calipers because Of rust, only have passenger side shock”for now” but the front looks pretty good lol. But with all the rust still wouldn’t trade it for a Ford!!

LOL...you heard it here folks! Owning a rusty Chevy is better than owning a Ford! LOL, I agree!

I have a 50 year old Datsun with 124.000 miles. It runs great but cant be driven from the rust. The entire bedsides are falling off. If it gets hit head on, it will be very ugly for those inside.

My 94' Ranger is the same way. Maybe not quite this bad, but still bad enough, and all of my brake lines have been replaced. The worst part was when I was working on my engine, and when I closed the hood, the fog lamp fell out of the front bumper. I picked the lamp up, and the only thing that was left of it was the bulb, like only 1% of the housing, and the lense.

Sorry bud, your rust has gotten to the point where it can’t be fixed 😆 however you are teaching everyone else how not to treat their vehicle 👍
