I didn't take the upper plastics off since the lower plastic overlaps the side pieces. I simply popped the lower cover off, changed the latch and popped the lower cover back in place. I was done in about 35 minutes. Thanks for the video Chad! It was a great help!

uber driver from nyc, same problem, went to shop for free fix, but they asked me it will take few hours to do the job, very official paper work plus very serious and crazy busy technicians, the repair shop was actually too busy even no any spot to parking, then back to home, and just find out your tip, only 1.5 minutes. thank you sir.

I watched the video four times to make sure I got it right. I was afraid I may screw something up. After calling a couple of shops for a quote and getting no response back I finally decided to dive in and do it myself. Watched the video, ordered the part on eBay for about $50 and when it arrived and stopped raining I dove in. Had to go buy a star ratchet driver set at Harbor Freight for about $12 in order to get the size T-40 in order to remove the two bolts. I also broke off one of the things that hold up the compartment lid or whatever you call that thing. Once I got everything I needed the whole process took about 30 minutes and no doubt saved a ton of money. Thanks for publishing this well informative video!!

Thanks for sharing this video. It was a great help. If we all would share helpful videos like these? It would help Alot of people who can't afford to have someone to install & fix this. I checked a couple places to see what they'd charge to do this? One wanted $169 & another one said $175 & that was IF he didn't run into anymore problems? Which he said: Then it could be around at least $250. I just said: YAMMM & walked away. But, It sounds like i may have gotten Screwed just a little bit? I paid i believe it was $35. But, that was with Free shipping. But, there were some as high as 98 & $120. Good luck on selling those..But, again. Thanks for sharing this & God Bless you!!

Exactly & i'm one of those who can't afford to hire it done? Even tho i am totally broken down. Back broken in 3 places. Disks from T2-T12 totally blew out. Have 3 different types of cancers with cancer on my spine & pressing against my spinal cord. Lost my R lung due to lung cancer. Have masses of cancer on my kidneys, liver & my L lung also. Now i'm looking at a hip replacement due to cancer eating a hole in my hip.I had all kinds of Friends before i got cancer who were always need-ing my help in oneway or another & always helped in anyway i could. But, after i got cancer & lost my R lung. My So called friends starting Evaporating or maybe they got Raptured? But, they never call or receive or return any of my calls or come around me anymore? I guess they Think that they'll catch one of my cancers? But, i do Not believe that cancer is contagious from what i've read it isn't? I could Sure use their help tho. Need someone to help me just build like a small 4'x6' porch at my back door & build a set of steps that wouldn't take more than 3-4 hrs Tops? I'm just Not able to do it by myself? And due to where we lost our Home 2yrs ago to an electrical fire & lost everything we had & owed over about 32 yrs. Lost most all of my tools. Especially my power tools. Such as circular saws, drills, etc. I've even offered to pay them to help me in messages i sent to them on fb. It showed they'd seen my messages. But, got No replies? I'm 65 yrs old & not able to do much of anything anymore due to these cancers & chemos? I truly believe that the chemos are Alot worse than the cancers. The chemos makes every bone in my body feel like they're literally going to "Bust/Split Wide Open"!! I guess i'm just more Hurt than anything else that they Stopped/Quit being my friends after i got Sick than anything else? Most of them had been my friends since grade school or longer. And several of them Owe me money that i'd loaned them when they needed my help.But, if they were to call me right now & say that they needed my help? I'd do my Best to get to them & help them if i could? But, i guess with So called friends like those.Who needs "ENEMAS" Huh? But, i still Love them & Hope & Pray they are all doing Good & Healthy & having Lots of Fun? Take Care & God Bless. OK I just replaced my hatch switch, instead of removing all the panels I just pulled down the part of the panel that covers the switch about 6 inches, removed the 2 torque bolts and replaced, hardest part was getting the plastic tab to line up, took me about 15 min for the hole job. Once again thanks for the video.

Don't take the upper part and the side pieces off, literally everything will break. Just take out the little finger grip beside the actuator and will give you the grip to remove the big bottom plastic piece. No need to remove the 3 pieces around the window.

I have found that if you slam the hatch every time, it tends to not burn this part out. If you close it softly and it doesn't fully engage, it likes to malfunction. Very dumb... They should make it better.

Thanks so much for this video. I had the same problem with the privacy clip part. They broke on both sides, but we never use it anyway. I was able to find a matching part off eBay and have it shipped here for under $25. Only other thing I needed was the torque 40 bit for my wrench. Whole job cost me under $40 bucks to finish!

My liftgate will work going up and down, but when it gets to the close position it automatically reverses and opens. Is there some adjustment to correct this?

So I replaced the actuator on my Buick encore.still have the issue. If I hit the button I hear it click from somewhere inside the car. Would this be the switch even if it sounds like its activating?

Same problem.But mine is caused by a loose connection between the rear hatch open switch and the connector.

Hey! So, when I went to the dealer to buy those pieces, they told me they are meant to break when removing. I told them that was dumb and proceeded with buying them from them lol someone else asked me for the part number in comment, should be able to find it there. It was a pain to find

No please don’t do thath. No necessary take the upper plastic and In minute 5:40 is no necessary take out this two pieces first try to pull the inner handle then the from bottom to top take the ,,,,,,,, forger it meaning does you can don’t listen what I do
