my brother Fred married a girl from bellshill (Glasgow)....we are from manchester....I've spent many a weekend in the bellshill bars back in the seventies......so from personal experience...i can definitely state, that, their is a big man type character in everyone of those bars....we were English....but the strange thing is...they really went out of their way to welcome us....they must have thought anyone from england coming up and drinking with the natives, must have some balls....i still remember going to the bar, getting into "big man" character and ordering 4 pints of heavy and 4 halfs!!! (whisky)...happy days eh..

I wish I understood some of the slang I’m from the states, lots of it sounds like gibberish. Still hilarious though. Our slang in the states, most of it is boring and corny especially compared to the UK and Australia.
