The lady in the black outfit is named Luci Martin. We hear, "Music never let's you down," at 0:47. Throughout this song, Luci is not singing. She is lip syncing. The actual singer, with the beautiful voice is Norma Jean Wright. Norma left the group, not long after she recorded this song with "Chic."She was replaced by Luci, here in black, and Alfa Anderson, who is in red, and to her left, while on stage.

@AutomaticWriting Yes, the singers are lip synching for the purposes of the TV show they are on. That is a common practice, even up to this day. However, the original recordings you are listening to right now, had real singers, real musicians and amazing production and songwriters. No auto-tune, no references to bitches, hos, niggas, etc. No bravado or inciting violence, and no women shaking their "booty" to sell records. What a concept! And these are all YOUNG BLACK PEOPLE in the video. Yes, they were all in their 20s! As a 57 year old black man, I ask my other fellow black people this question: how did we go from Chic (in 1977) to "Da Brat" in 2022? Please explain. Once again, I sound like a broken record, but all the people in the video are "young black people" in their 20s!! Totally different consciousness for sure, from those young black people in 1977. Lastly, I saw Chic "live in concert" a handful of times in the late 70s, 80s, and a couple of times in the 90s, before Bernard Edwards (RIP) passed away. They were the real deal! Real vocalists, real instruments, and real musicianship! Amazing! I am sure any of you who were fortunate enough to see them in concert back in the day, would agree. In closing, thanks to the amazing Nile Rogers, Bernard Edwards (RIP), Tony Thompson (RIP), Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin, Norma Jean Wright, and last but not least all the members of "The Chic Strings" who were also part of the ensemble! Enjoy! Cheers, Sam.

@samaduampoma2449
@samaduampoma2449 Жыл бұрын
@@tonytuffers Tony, this was not a lecture (and not meant to be interpreted as such). It was just a recognition of the facts of this performance, and a simple comparison of popular music (by young black people) in 1977 to popular music (by young black people) in 2022. That's all. Lastly, although I mentioned about rappers/hip-hop artists with their "niggas/hos/bitches" etc., I can't remember any rap artist on interview, defend such language in their music. Shouldn't they be able to say to me "hey Sam, shut up! Talking about bitches/hos/niggas is a good thing!". If you have any footage/interview of a rapper saying just that, I really would like to see it. See for me, I can (and will) defend "Boogie Oogie Oogie" along with all the disco chants etc., from the 70s all day! The melodies and musicianship was amazing! Even what you may see as "cheesy" lyrics and artists like "The Village People" and YMCA. Yes, I think their music is great (joyful), and will defend them too! Once again if rappers feel as great about their language, as I do about disco music, they should be willing to defend it as publicly as I do for disco music. If you have any of that footage I mentioned, please bring it to my attention. In closing, keep enjoying the magic of Chic! Sincerely, Sam.

I felt and noticed it when I was a kid; Nile Rodgers also felt that same passive racist vibe when people at football or baseball stadiums chanted "DISCO SUCKS!" during games, he professed during in a profile interview after post Chic having already produced Blondie, David Bowie, The B52s, etc.

Just brilliant. Was fortunate to see Nile Rodgers and chic recently at Ludlow castle. It rained constantly and everyone was so happy. That is the effect Nile Rodgers music has on people, you can be feeling low and all of a sudden your up lifted. Always been my music hero a true great and genuine guy and brilliant group together with Bernard Edwards. Golden age of music and God given gift to the world.

Everybody Dance is one of many Chic songs that will be great no matter how much time passes. The more time passes by, the more I appreciate this song since it was created during a unique and positively expressive period of time that eludes present day. Long live Chic's music!

My wife and I saw them fall of 2022. They were excellent, such a pleasant surprise! Brought back a lot of great memories growing up in the late 70s. I hope they tour again soon! We will be there to see them!
