Hughes was a big music buff. He would receive a collection of songs and go through them to see what would work in a certain scene and what wouldn’t; according to what I have heard, it was his favorite part of the filmmaking process.

Upon hearing this song played during this segment of the film, I thought the lyrics at first were saying "big city now now" referring to Chicago where the storyline of this film supposedly takes place but later I've come to find out that the name of the song is actually called "Beat City" instead. Has anyone else misheard the lyrics of this song thinking it was saying the same thing that I've thought I've heard them singing as well ? Just curious. But if you ask me, I think it would've been a better idea and name of the song if it was called what I've mistakenly thought I heard them singing at first. But that's just my opinion though.

As a Chicagoan I absolutely love this movie! Fun fact though at 1:30 is the Ohio Street Ramp exiting from the Kennedy Expressway which would make sense being that they were coming from Northbrook (or as they call it in the movie Shermer), however at 1:38 they’re driving south on Lake Shore Drive which actually would make no sense because Ohio Street is south of where that scene is. Obviously they did it though to get footage of the Hancock Center
