+nyek9103 I used live on Augusta Blvd. in Chicago. Every year they would have the Puerto Rican day parade came past our apt every year. Every year the parade would end in a riot. That neighborhood was always one of the most dangerous in the city, going all the way back to the 60's.

I have no idea where you went, but check out the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, Bucktown or the West Loop next time. And really visit, Do not drive four hours, see a museum, then drive four hours home. Heaven would suck after that kind of a day. Get a nice hotel in River North or the Gold Coast during the Summer,and walk around and shop on North Michigan Ave, or check out boutiques around Clark and Belmont in Lakeview or on North Damen in Bucktown. Now, if your view of cool is going to a chain restaurant, then Chicago will suck (along with London, NYC, Paris,...), but I think it is silly when people in Indiana or Iowa talk about London theater being wonderful and complaining that the US has no such thing when there are dozens of good theater groups in Chicago. I go to Manhattan a lot, but Chicago has a lot to offer and it has CHEAP hotels in good neighborhoods.

This is probably Humboldt Park (a formerly nice neighborhood destroyed by by filth who moved in and raped and murdered the existing residents until they leaved, also called "white flight). You cannot blame the Policies in Chicago for this. The people need to change for themselves. They complain about their rights when they're pulled over for no reason- an officer is trained on suspicion....So really it's pretty tough to find the balance between pleasing the people as well as protecting them.
