It was a great episode, like old-school Chicago PD. Jesse is brilliant because he exactly understood what Chicago PD fans loved about the show in the first place. The 'of-the-books' Voight and the team are exactly why we started watching. And this tone of the show has been missing for a long time. Interesting thing: you can actually see, if you watched Jesse's interviews in the past 4 years, since the mid-season 6 and the start of the 7, that he repeated exactly that this is what he misses about the show: the team and Voight being badass in general, I also remember him saying he would love to see Voight and Jay become closer and Jay working closer with Voight and like Voight. And he confirmed it here, his love for more 'of the books' team. So now it is absolutely clear, he also partly left the show and didn't sign a new contract because he didn't like how the writers and producers started changing Halstead since basically season 7, and changing Jay&Voight's relationship. I think if he was completely happy with his character storylines, he would have stayed for 2-3 seasons more. But he clearly wanted these characters to go the opposite way that the writers made them, he said it, in these various interviews. You can tell Jesse didn't like Jay and Voight fighting at this point after they already have been working together for almost a decade. Halstead did butt heads with Voight at the start of the show because of Erin mainly, but yes, sometimes also because of the methods. But this was more because of his friendship with Antonio. Jay started to work in the Unit thanks to Antonio's recommendation, and he shared similar values to Antonio but Antonio and his clean way also had an impact on Jay at first. But by season 3 Jay and Voight were absolutely ok, and Jay actually was very much like Voight, and a badass, I recently rewatched the first 4 seasons, and the difference in how Jay was, is amazing. They all were more badass in the early seasons. And the fact that the writers pushed this police reform thing and made Jay (and Kim& Atwater too) poster-boy for this, was simply the wrong choice. Because it completely ruined the core of the show: the fact that Voight's Unit was always different and operated more like a black op and group of vigilantes than a police force, and that was the whole thing that made Chicago PD great and exciting among the typical cop shows on tv. I get that the public was forcing the creators to not show police brutality, and they had to do the police reform as well because, in the end, this is a modern show about the police so they have to include topics that are in the news, but there was a way to do this in a way more organic way for the show. First, Voight and the team were always brutal towards real criminals, not innocent people. Yes, they made a few mistakes but the irony is, these few mistakes started to occur only since season 7 really, so in the season they started to do this police reform thing. They should rather show that bosses from the above forced Voight and the team to be more careful but they should never write this stupid inside conflict between Voight and Jay because it completely ruined the team dynamic, the dynamic that was great for years already. It just didn't make any sense at this point in the show, and it was not organic writing at all, it was forced. And you can tell Jesse didn't like it for Halstead as well, so he said bye in the 10th year, and this was the one element out of many that were a part of the wish to move on. I'm actually happy Jesse is moving on because he is great and I loved Halstead but I hated how they were ruining him, so it's better to see Jesse in smth else now.

I noticed and liked the tighter indoor shots. great near closeups. Outdoor filming has always been great on this but was different. Nice to see Trudy more. What i didn't actively notice was Ruzek he was there right????Gotta have him. love yu baby!

As s try chi fan. It hurts not to see him on the show by the same time I am maze of him. Cuz he's not just a one-trick pony he actually wants to do so much of his career and I'm looking forward to him. Exceeding more in his career and who knows what's going to happen there might be more. In the man's going to turn 39 tomorrow so honestly all I can ask is not to give up I just keep going I just keep amazing as everyday whatever he could do. I can't support Jesse starting when was forced Sophia to leave because of the bullying and more done to her for 2 years & more of NO SUPPORT from all the male producers or the cast, especially Jesse. He should've stepped up! Instead I've seen numerous pics of Jesse with his buddy Beghe, arms on each other's shoulders; that STINKS and you guys have no idea how it chips away at your self- worth and stays with a woman. Mr. Beghe should've been fired for the bully he is, instigated BTW by the fact that Sophia was the star instead of him. I'm sorry for what happened to Jesse on the show and it's obvious that his new 'replacment co-star' was no replacement for Sophia Bush. I stopped watching after S-4 and I only bought the first 4 seasons. It's too bad, Sophia and Jesse together elevated the acting on the show. ALSO the way she was written off was disgraceful.
