I 'am one of the "angry white flag-waving guys" in this scene, where I'm a background extra walking right behind that David Dixon character, and I'm the guy wearing the green type military jacket and wearing the grey winter cap. There were several of us walking down this pathway at the University of Chicago campus and us several guys felt like we were his personal bodyguards and we had to go around the corner where the "Alt-Left crowd was waiting and we all had to be mindful of the stunt-fighters swinging the fists and doing the fighting and the cops coming in billy-clubs and body armor and fake tear gas. We worked 3 days on this particular scene of this episode, and there was two other scenes on this episode that was never used, such as the "Sports-Bar" scene, where me and some other extras were used as patrons of a sports bar and seeing a big screen tv on the wall, that had the 2 college basketball players kneeling during the playing of the national anthem, and we in the sports bar were booing and jeering to what we were seeing on tv. That scene was scratched .The other scene that was not used was where us Background extras were at the basketball game as fans in the stands sitting in the stands and when during the playing of the National anthem was sung by some lady the 2 basketball players kneed on the floor and we pantomimed booing and jeering and doing these scenes over and over again and again. I've worked on other Chicago tv shows as a background extra in such as: Chicago CPD, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Empire, Proven Innocent, Redline , Shameless, Easy, Suits, Mixtape, Utopia, The Chi, Batwoman . And I've done some extra work on some movies here as well: "Dark Knight", "The Express-The Ernie Davis Story", "Oceans 11", "Captive State", "Widows", "Wildcats"

While the scene may try to deliver a message, tactics-wise, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If you know that there's two opposing groups, you don't wait for them to collide and then send police in. That'll only lead in a pile of beaten-up bodies and a whole lot of bad press.

Thank you Chicago PD for not being one sided and political. Thanks for showing the bad of both sides.
@SeatBill
@SeatBill 5 жыл бұрын
I think it's more important to say Chicago PD shows BOTH sides - the viewers get to decide which is "bad," and which is the "good" side. It's not the show's job, or the actors' job, or the writers' job, to do that; let people make up their own minds. That's the same problem Democrats have: "WE should think for YOU!" People should make up their own minds about issues - good, or bad; not their leaders! Beware a political party that thinks it should decide what you think, or how you should think! THOSE are the fascists!

I think the writers could have done a better job with her character & the episode... As to the overall politics in this one... well I just can’t see how kneeling, standing or burning the flag is anything more than ignorance & disrespect...and although they are trying to use it as a tool to get their message across in a “peaceful” way...that message is completely lost & is replaced by resentment & anger... only creating more turmoil, hate and violence... It also needs to be stated that racism is NOT a black & white thing... it’s not an American thing... it’s a WORLD thing...racism affects every country, every culture, every color.... we need to remember that while we work on fixing it but we can only do that together not at each other’s throats 24/7

That's so dumb of the police to let such a situation happen. At least in this scenario, they could have prevented the whole dangerous fight from occurring, so why didn't they??? They knew the violent group of white extremists were coming, they literally had officers on the ground who saw them coming and inciting hatred and violence, and behaving clearly aggressively, riling each other up, heading toward the peaceful black protest with a clear plan to instigate violence - why didn't the police stop them???! Why did the police ALLOW the far right extremist mob to basically bash right into the peaceful protest, inciting hatred and violence???! If they had that group of riot police with shields ready, they should have sent them out BEFORE the white extremists rammed into the crowd of peaceful protesters! They could have had them stand in a circle protecting the civilians peacefully standing around from the angry, aggressive group of hateful men charging at them! Bah! Even without the riot police, if the normal officers stood in the way of the extremists and showed their badges, they could have stopped them from ramming into the peaceful crowd. And if the white far-right extremists were then shouting abuse, the officers should have arrested them for racially motivated hate crime and instigating violence.
@foreverdumb7381
@foreverdumb7381 5 жыл бұрын
Czadzikable LMAO it does not work that way and it shouldn’t. When the police have the right to act in anticipation then they can be used for abuse. I live in Romania and when a totally peaceful protest against corruption was disliked by the rulling class they simply paid a few guys to fight in the front row... with just a few altercations they sent a few thousands armed police men gathered from across the country to swipe aprox a few hundred thousand people with water canons, paralyzing spray and so on. Until the altercation is seriously violent and widespread then the police should not act. Here when that happened sections of the protesting mass who were perfectly peaceful and at a huge distance from the violent ones were also wiped out.
@boringperson-zb8vy
@boringperson-zb8vy 5 жыл бұрын
Objectively, the police knowing there would be a counter protest should have led to them preemptively separating the two groups. In the UK, the police go in between opposing football fans or counter protestors before any violence to avoid this exact situation happening.
@AsianDawg46
@AsianDawg46 5 жыл бұрын
@@boringperson-zb8vy This isn't the same case. The protesting group would probably have had a negative response to the police surrounding them even if they were trying to protect them. And while the chance of a fight breaking out was possible, there was no way to be sure, and with how the cops had to prepare, and how quickly the situation evolved, it's entirely likely the moment the police got involved was the quickest they could have taken action from the time the white supremacy group expressed violent intent to the time of suppression.
@boringperson-zb8vy
@boringperson-zb8vy 5 жыл бұрын
@@AsianDawg46 Surrounding them (blocking them in a box) is kettling. The UK police have used that tactic and no one likes it. The police even avoid it. It's just forming a barrier, or designing the protest grounds in such a way that opposing sides are separated. Not detaining them, separating them. The police would love rioters to disperse, so they won't surround any rioters. They'll in fact leave a few clear openings to help them disperse.
