Chicago traffic is worst in North America, study finds

Chicago traffic is the most congested in North America, followed by Boston and New York, according to a new study from Inrix.

Living in Chicago my whole life, it is not so much the number of people on the roads. It's all the construction that is causing this. Every highway and road has some part of it closed due to construction and it causes massive delays.

Chicago has the worst traffic. Ive been to NYC, LA and neither felt as bad as Chicago. Try to make me think our wise when I'm stuck on Pulaski at 4pm barely moving with cars stacking up against me like legos on the Southwest side. Which should be one of our least congested area bcs of its lower density

Every time I come to Chicago, the traffic is always bad especially on the I-90 Kennedy Expressway between O’Hare Airport and the Chicago Loop. It doesn’t matter what day of the week it is.

Instead of going on on the highway to work, in the morning. Take the side streets or take the scenic route. Through the parkways in Chicago. Take a bus, transit, or carpool(u save money on gas).

I disagree. I retired in 2015 and for the past 8 years, I have not had any problems with rush hour traffic!

Not really. Chicago surpassed LA years ago. I have friends from LA that are suprised how bad our traffic and say its alot worse than LA. Ons said its bcs we only have one or two major highways in the city both which go to Downtown. Which is incorrect

Chicago has worse traffic. Ive been to LA, Houston and Nyc. Of all those NYC was the closest to Chicago in terms in traffic. But Chicago is still worse. Many people in NYC take public transit

I said the city planners here are not great. The decisions made on North Clark Street to go down to 1 lane are amongst the most foolish.

Streets are destinations, having high speed traffic zipping down businesses is incompatible with providing a productive place of a city for economic activity. If you want to do away with congestion you have to provide viable alternatives to driving.

LA is nowhere near as bad as Chicago. Its smoother than what we have here. Plus it takes breaks. In Chicago there no rush hour anymore. It just goes on all day/night

Do you think those people who have ranked other cities like LA and NYC on the top spot in the past don't check data or have correspondents in all cities? Noone beats Chicago in traffic. There is no rush hour. It just goes from 5/6am all the way to 8pm. Sometimes in some occasions to 1am. Ive been stuck on i90/94 on the interchange in Downtown multiple times at 12am
