Absolutely loved this place! I went on a spiritual journey / Solo Trip to Yucatán and Chichen Iza was the best spiritual awakening I ever experienced! Such a magical place, I was blessed to have the best tour guide as well. One thing they said about the ball game was that they’re were captains of each team with a club on that platform just under the hoop, the winner was actually sacrificed but was volunteer for it as it was one of the highest honors and straight path to heaven. The acoustics there were something that can only be heard in person absolutely amazing! I highly recommend anyone of Mayan decent go back to the homeland and learn and experience it. I actually decide to quit ny job and am moving to Playa del Carmen in two weeks. I’d really like to be a tour guide for a side gig.

i’ve read that we actually don’t even know what got sacrificed, why, how much, or when. Just that some sort of sacrifice happened correlating to this game. Maybe human sacrifices only happened when people cheated or showed aggression? Or maybe only when played during celebrations or holidays?

I'm going to bust the myth of winning or losing players being sacrificed. While playing pok ta pok aka tlachtli, neither were sacrificed during the game, except if the game was being played strategically, instead of going to war against a city. In this instance, teams from both cities would play each other and the leader of the losing team may be killed, although often they were allowed to live as long as the losing city would supply the winners with a quantity of jade, obsidian or other special goods. Much like today, killing your prize athletes/warriors was counterproductive, especially since the game was used for strategy. The other exception was if prisoners of war (warriors) were captured, they would be allowed to play the game to decide their fate.

You have a couple of things wrong. 1. It’s not a pyramid it’s a TEMPLE. 2. During the equinox ,when the sun hits the temple, the Northern-Left corner casts a shadow on the stairway and creates the image of a serpent winding DOWN. The snake appears slowly descending with the sun representing Kukulcan’s descent from the sky to the underworld. 3. The ITZA people who were a particular group of Maya inhabited the city.

@flywonlbc2264 Жыл бұрын
If you would of went on the tour you would of learned that that winner was sacrificed by the loser. It was a honor to die and have the winners blood 🩸on the ground it was giving homage to the GODS. When the game is over Mayans prepared a potion that was dranked by the winner. It made the winner unconscious..While the loser cut the winner head off. Telling listeners that winners killed losers is totally cap. I advised traveling to the sights you talking about. Or more extensive research. I just went on the tour 7/15/22 so it’s still fresh
