It was a pleasure to meet and talk to Mr.Corea here in Santiago, Chile when he came with the Elektric Band in the early 90's. His music legacy will resonate for all future generations to discover and hopefully explore and be inspired by. Thank you for the amazing music of the best years of our lives. Rest in peace now. Condolences to the family.

I noticed that when Chick sings the first few notes of 'Autumn Leaves' (around 10 min mark) it's spot on in tune in G minor. Makes me think he had 'Perfect Pitch'. Just an observation! R.I.P. Chick!

I had the fortune of seeing Chick Corea last March, at the Paris Philharmonic, it was just before lockdown and may well have been his last concert, anyone? I popped a short clip of his waving goodbye on Twitter @roiroux I’ve been a fan since I first saw him playing the Romantic Warrior on British TV in 1976. Like part of our lives, someone we knew. And it was on British news I heard the headline announcing his passing. I still can’t believe it. Great interview! There’s so much still to discover about him. RIP. May he Return to Forever.

The interviewer was doing great up until the end of Chick’s discussion of Art Tatum. Chick said Tatum was his favorite pianist “next to Glenn Gould.” What an opportunity for a great follow up question. It would have been most interesting to hear Chick talk about Gould. And it’s kind of charming to hear a little bit of a New England accent in the way he speaks.
@Piratebreadstick
@Piratebreadstick 2 жыл бұрын
I know! This is the problem with most interviewers, in every genre. They are only interested in their own niche area rather than the bigger picture. To me, musicians like Chick and Glenn are closer in spirit to each other than they are to other musicians form their respective genres no matter how great. Both are bigger than the characterisation of their music. I got so excited when he mentioned Glenn and wanted to hear more.
