This mushroom must be well cooked before eating. Then it is delicious and safe, with no toxic lookalikes in the Uk. Some people have an allergy to it though so if you’ve never eaten it before you should only eat a small bit and wait 24 hours.

"You do want to eat them when they're young" That's what Drake said.

I'm trying to work out timings for some of these bracket types - it seems that they grow fairly slowly (they won't "pop up overnight" quite like some ground-dwelling ones, or disappear quite fast either), and once cut, they don't seem to produce further growth until probably next season.... (pure conjecture based on the dryad's saddles in my local spot...) A vid on growth timing/duration ("gestation" for lack of better term?) would be really interesting and helpful, if at all even feasible/relevant....!

In one of the back to basic vids I did I show one of these growing over 4 days. It always depends on the conditions though..

While its still feels flexible and moist they are still good. Normally before the edges of the shelves have started to thin and flatten.
