My chickens lay eggs all in the same spot. They literally have 6 nesting boxs in there coop. But they all lay in the same one.

@@patriciadavis1393 Chickens are super social. They need a larger flock to feel safe. Either you have an entire flock of chickens or you allow the chickens to spend time with you as much as they want. Since in this case she and her dogs where the flock.

Yeah .. I did go look it up myself. The average lifespan I saw was about 7 years BUT if well taken care of and no genetic problems they can even live up to 10-12 years. Good to know.

One of my pet chickens slept at the end of my bed and laid an egg on my bed every day! She also followed me everywhere she could. I often had too get her out of the car. Chickens are fantastic little people

I'm thinking about chicken poop in her house!! Is that sanitary? It also on furniture ,floor, and what about dogs. Can any diseases be spread to humans or dogs from the poop?

@@mariannunderwood4489 the short answer is yes. excrement are filled with bacteria, microorganism and vira, not to mention that virtually all chickens have flees. It is why backyard chicken breeders like myself have our chicken coop in the backyard away from our house. Unlike cats and dogs, chickens have no toilet culture

She's laying them inside because that's where she feels the safest and for her offspring safety. She doesn't know they aren't fertilized. She just loves the family! It's sweet....❤

Let her stay with the dogs. Everyone has their preference for company. Chickens are intelligent and very empathetic to emotions. What a fun household and many guaranteed laughs. I envy you. ( I love the music to this video. Dodo nails it again.)

I had a pet hen when I was little. I used to walk her around the block. Neighbors would say "there goes Debbie, walking her chicken again!" She also would sit in the doorway of her cage while I dug up some worms for her to eat. She was so sweet.

They can be taught not to peck. When they are raised as pets they normally don't peck the face. If she got the hen as an adult though, she needs to tell her NO, chickens understand our tone, basically they can be taught not to peck just like you teach a cat or dog not to do something, the same techniques work.

Chickens make wonderful pets and each has their own little personality. Buff Orpington are one of the most gentle, loving breeds. There are patterns online for nappies or chicken diapers if you'd like to keep 'em inside for any length of time.

OGM I’ve got a buff Orpington and she is the greatest chicken ever, I have 19 other chickens, but she lets herself out of the run every day and just wanders the yard, my dogs don’t mind her , and at night I have to put her back in so she can get in the coop for bed. She sees me putting my shoes on in the house and starts running to me, it’s such a hoot. I’ll definitely get more Orpington’s some day!
