they very rarely play the same verse/chorus twice, it is one of the things that sets them apart from other bands. Great reaction, thanks.

That little hesitation you spoke about is one of many BM tricks that they throw in to make their songs more interesting and unpredictable. They're song structures can be quite unusual, with pre-choruses, bridges, pre-post-chorus-bridges and what not... Kanami (lead guitar) is a songwriting genius and the pigeon is a lyrics master.

They are a pure live band. While carrying their own equipment, they performed more than 100 live concerts a year in a small live house and had various experiences. There is an interview that talks about the glad of the equipment carrier car for the first time. They have a shy personality that makes them nervous every time, but they have the freedom and power on stage. They enjoy even the accident. The gap between them in the MC time and playing time is also attractive.

Great reaction and like a lot of people when we first discover Band-Maid we wonder why we haven't haven't heard of all these great bands from Japan. I think the reason is pretty simple, Japan has the second largest music industry (behind the US) and typically stays local and western radio/TV/music industry has no interest in going outside it's bubble. It took YT and other social media sources (that are world-wide) to start spreading the word about these great bands. I gave up on radio years ago when one company (may they rot in hell for all eternity) bought about 70% of all the stations (in the US), fired all the staff and used a top 40 loop for all stations.

The MV for this tune is good, but for me this version is much better. They're on a different level when they play live.

The Mv for Warning is bonkers top gear meets apocalypse but this live performance is superior in my opinion. ❤️

The thunderous bass lines Misa MIsa MIsa lays down on this song just drive the band so ferociously with Akane, what a rhythm section! Kanami and MIku killing it too with Saiki! Their real strength is that they are all on worldclass level... Akane: One of the best drummers at the moment. MISA: Just an absolute groovemachine, with one of the best basstones i know. SAIKI: She made the biggest steps in the last 2 years, she is an AWESOME singer now! KANAMI: An really good guitarist, but her strength and maybe unique ability is her FEEL to music... To be able to write so much incredible, complex songs with an catchy chorus on top of it is just mindblowing! MIKU: Is the glue of the band, backs everything up, vocals, guitar, rhythm and if the ladies need a little laughter or stay positive, she is the person you go to. Overall they are one of the best bands, if not the best band we have today... Thrill was my first encounter with them also in late February 2020. Since then I am learning Japanese, have all their CDs, DVDs, saw all their Live Streams, Singles, Instagram--they are still blowing my mind. The only song imho that is better in these live settings without an audience is "About Us". The girls need an audience to come alive for real. The song "About Us" is about missing their fans during Covid times and that might be why it was more heartfelt live, alone in a studio.

Just for a moment, forget they're all female and forget they're dressed as maids. Two members (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. OK, now that's explained, you can go back and marvel at how cute those outfits look and how incredibly beautiful all the band members are. The only band I've seen that is playing live like Rock/Heavy Rock/Metal bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal. As much as i love Band-Maid (they were my 2nd discovery that pulled me down the rabbit hole) You have to check out Bridear. Old song " Light in the Dark" New Bridear = "Bloody Bride" and for something really crazy. Undead Corporation "Make me Crazy" or "Chase the Rabbit".

You have to watch/listen to Band Maid videos a minimum of 5 times to "get" everything they are doing.

Band Maid is one of those rare groups that takes the studio performance and elevates it in the Live environment ...and just an Fyi this is an online concert during the Covid era with no live audience .. you really need to see Domination, Freedom, Choose me or any Live performance for a better representation of what they can do with an audience ..

The more you watch/listen to the band you more you'll appreciate how talented these women are. Creativity at it's best. Kanami on lead guitar is a great song composer. Like the other 2 great musicians here in Misa on bass and Akane on drums,theres continual variation in all parts of a song. Whether Misa's virtual continual solos or Akane's speed and variation,it produces an amazing sound. Miku really does provide that beautiful backing vocal here and with Saiki on lead the blending really does produce a wonderful sound. The only addition here is a fuller Miku vocal. She has a quieter voice and the reason Saiki was brought in as she realised her power wasn't strong enough to lead a rock band. She however does sing solo on quite a few songs particularly early in the band's career. Most reviewers check out the MV. It's a great action packed clip. The Maids do shine in their song structures. Different elements to every verse with slides,solos and subtle notes. Watch Manners. Good examples there. Miku's vocal is completely different. Plays slides,lead notes and Kanami just adding something different all of the time. Theres a lot going on in Band Maids songs and it's only with repeated listens that you pick that up. Kanami played a lot of the guitar parts in the latest album Unseen World. Its frenetic material and a bit much for Miku who learnt rthymn guitar from Kanami early in the band's life. Note on the Thrill MV,she hardly ever plays. Best songs are live. Real Existence Dont you tell me About Us For MV's Daydreaming,Bubble,Rinne,Choose Me,Non Fiction Days. All different in genres and style from metal to beautiful ballads,its what sets them apart from the others. Musical Art at it's best.

If you're a drummer, there are many songs with irregular tempo, extra beats, etc that might intrigue you. Moratorium, onset, no God, alone, Giovanni...etc, etc... not just the speed, more jazzy pieces like wonderland, or ballads like daydreaming... slow songs doesn't mean "simple" either. Even though other instruments and vocals probably will take your focus away from Akane's drumming but it only means that you can listen to their songs more, to pick up all the details. Sure, there are bunch of great bands in Japan. But band-maid sound is very unique.

There are in my opinion 3 all girl bands at the top in Japan at the moment with Lovebites no4 Band Maid for Rock, Nemophila Metal ,and Gacharic spin (hard to describe) there are many more superb bands Chief i only got into the J music a year ago its an eye opener for certain . Honestly this is actually one of their weaker lives on their official channel, obviously its still good but there are other songs with more energy/atmosphere. It was the first song of this show and the audio was off and Saiki was having earpiece issues which was cleaned up post production
