I really like this technique, specially the suggestions given for rewards. I know exactly what kiddies I can use this game with.

I really liked the colored candy go around and I like this one also. An activity I did with some third graders was to talk about the color wheel and how emotions are tied to color. After we had talked about some of their anxieties I asked them what colors they would with their emotions would help them cope better. There were several positive words for each color like blue represented strong, confident, intelligent, orange was creative, enthusiastic, and energetic etc. I then gave them each a smooth stone and they chose their character traits that would be helpful to them and they painted their rocks with those colors. They then told me the word that made them choose that color and I later wrote the word for each color on the rock. If their rock was orange and blue they might tell me that they want to be confident and enthusiastic. I then gave them their rocks to keep in their desk and when they feel anxious they can take out their rock and think of things we have talked about to help them feel confident and so on. I adapted this from several lessons I have seen and it really worked well. Of course you want to make sure the teacher knows about the rock. They can also use markers if you don't want to use paint. I am new at all of this so this is just an idea.

Hi Liana. thanks for sharing. very helpful tools. regarding rewards in the dice game i suggest the child is rewarded more when she or he answers the question rather than when gets an odd number on the dice. i believe it will motivate the child to answer. when child doesn't answer, no reward or only 1 token/sweet/lego/bead whatever.

Geraldine Galea Thanks for your comment--you make a valid point and I sometimes change the rules of the activity when using it with a child who needs added incentive to respond to questions.

Thank you for your videos. I am wondering what you think of using this activity with a small group of 2 children who are both going through grief and loss?

Hi Liana. I find your activities very helpful:) I am planning a presentation on group counseling children (6, 7 years old) who witnessed domestic violence. What kind of questions can I addressed to them? Is this a good activity to be introduced around 3rd session? I look forward to your advice.

+katie choi I am glad to hear that you find the activity helpful. You can use this activity in a 3rd session provided that you have developed a trusting rapport with the child. Make sure to come up with questions that will help you assess the child's circumstances and are appropriate to the child's age and abilities.

I think the child should get 5 Legos for answering a question and 3 Legos on and on a odd dice without answering a question that's just my idea
