I hope he will draw some great, ethical sponsors! Some of the best advice given by the most successful and wealthy is to first never give away or sell the rights to your intellectual property, or your name, trademarks, etc., and to refuse to associate your name with anyone or any company that goes against your personal ethics (and to research their ethics), no matter how big the carrot they dangle before you. For example, the CEO of Nestlé said that “water is not a human right, it is a commodity”. They do not believe people have a natural right to water, even if it is part of their own land. If there is a way to take it, they will. They have also consistently tried to patent components of various natural herbs, and even what is found in human breast milk. If they could, they would make it illegal for mothers to feed their own infants with their own milk that their bodies produce. So far, they have not been successful at these patents, but they would do it if they could. And they persist. Nestle has gone on to try to take over the water rights of towns across the world, suing for rights and even taking the water rights from teeny tiny towns in the US and probably elsewhere, too, so they can sell the water back to the town (who already owned it before they took it over) at prices anywhere from 4x as much to an unlimited amount (they get most of the water they sell for free from Canada, and it is bottled under various names like Nestlé, Arrowhead and others. They pay absolutely nothing for it from that source. Also they took water from a national park in the Western United States (might have been Yosemite, forgot which one) for over 30 years after their water rights contract had expired. As far as I know, they still are using it. For that, they were paying something like 1-2¢ per 40+ gallons, I can’t remember the exact amount, but the markup was in the tens of thousands of a percent. Even with bottling, and a label and bottle, there isn’t much cost. The cost for the average bottle of Nestlé water is US $2.5 for a .5 litre, (sometimes a sale brings it to $2, rarely much less, sometimes $3 for a .5 litre bottle). That’s $758 gross (less the nominal cost of bottling) for every 40 gallons of water that they paid one or two cents for. They don’t even pay anything for most of it. Nearly pure profit. The point is anyone who buys from them is helping them take over the water rights of the world. Some product purchases are fairly unavoidable, because there are some products that they make that nobody else really does, things under their umbrella, other companies that they own, but one can try not to buy from them or be supported by their ads. Purina pet food (few other brands out there, except for extremely expensive ones that few can afford), Hot Pockets, Lean Cuisine, candies and foods, etc., they have many labels under their umbrella. If a person makes a point in the beginning to research a company and its holdings and companies under its umbrella, and refuses sponsorship from any and all such egregiously aggressive companies, who are not just willing and able, but are consistently and forcefully acting to debase not only the vulnerable, but humanity and nature itself such as is the case with Nestlé, Bayer, and Monsanto and others like them, then one will draw a higher class of sponsor who wants to back up the ethical artist who refuses to be tainted by association with them, the artist who can’t be bought by anyone, the artist who values his or her own name enough to be very choosey as to who is allowed to align with it. These are the artists that get the greatest respect. So, I hope some good, ethical companies will line up to be a support for CHEST’ER, people who can back their claims with some proof of fair trade and the like. Quality and ethics should be close associates. They stand out to the discerning eye, and quality people are willing to pay to support that.
