In this video I'll be discussing aspects of Childhood Absence Epilepsy.

My son wants to do excersie where he run fast? Should I tell him no as run fast trigger for absence epilepsy which my son suffer from?

What are the possible long term effects as an adult? Lack of concentration for example? Or emotionally unstable?after growing out of absence epilepsy by age of 8-9. Thank

My daughter is 2 and is starting medication is it likely she grow out of it as she is so young? Before the teen age ? she has seizures while she is asleep. How do you know the triggers ?

my son has been diagnoised with childhood absence epilepsy and is on etho (4 x 250mg tablets in the morning and the same in the evening) hopefully he will grow out of this and be weaned off medication, can you tell me roughly how long waning will take. love you videos by the way, they are so informative and really easy to understand as a parent. thank you

My niece was diagnosed for absence seizures when she was about 2 yrs old and she was given ethosuximide and it was under control for 8 months but now again it’s back and increasing doses is not helping. We are worried? Any advise

Dr. Please question. My child was diagnosis with absence eplipsy like a month ago but now he started to urine suddenly without knowing. Is this means something bad?

Are these ages always the case. I’m 14 and are experiencing this but cannot get medication yet due to COVID and not getting appointments

Hi Adam, I'm sorry to hear this but if you're in the UK (and I can only speak with knowledge of the system and current situation here) there's absolutely no reason not to be seen or get referred by your GP to a local paediatrician. The NHS is open and colleagues are working hard across all specialties to ensure that services are running and that all necessary investigations are happening despite Covid pressures. Bw Simon

My son today was duagnosis with absence epilebsy. They had him to blow for three minutes and then he got in the condition. For last two weeks my son had no attack. Is this mean his status good? Should i prevent him from using games in phone? He is 9 years.

Hi Jalal, this is a condition which usually lasts for a couple of years before resolving, so unfortunately, a relatively brief period without observed episodes doesn't mean very much. In addition, they can often be occurring without them being obvious to parents and teachers, so its hard to gauge without EEGs. In terms of phone games - it will depend on whether he is photosensitive and the exact game and environment its being played in, so harder to comment. Best wishes, Simon
