CHIMANIMANI - Solo OVERLANDING Mozambique FINALE (4K)

Lost in Africa

Күн бұрын

So after 3 1/2 months of overlanding Mozambique my journey comes to an end, and in what a special way! This was the culmination of 22 months full time living out of Jabari, and probably one of the sternest tests we had. But like often seems to be the case, the bigger the obstacle, the bigger the reward!
Chimanimani is better known in Zimbabwe, the Mozambican side of the mountain range is incredible remote, with only the brave overlanders venturing in there. The road in was epic, and I hate using that word, but nothing else can describe it. Overlanding at it's best. And then I was rewarded with probably the most beautiful camp of my entire time on the road, plus meeting a very special person!
This massive edit took me easily 200 hours, so I hope it was worth the wait, and it does justice to what has been an incredible trip!
Lost in the Kgalagadi will be coming soon!
Love you all,
Tim Hulme

I worked up there a couple of years building Cell towers. Based in Chimoio. It's a wild beautiful world up there and the way you traveling is the ONLY way. Everyday is a adventure. Most of the smoke is burning trees for the production of coal I'm afraid. I'm sure you saw it next to the road in the big bags. The poeples resilience up there is amazing. There is a amazing road...coming out if Beira just before the Inhaca crossroads..that turns off to Inamatinga and inamatanga...an amazing road. Tip...small villages always seek out the chief..(I carried small bags of biltong as gifts. I had to liaise with them towers sites)...you will always find a safe place there to camp. I worked up through Gorongozo, Qualamane, Nampula, Angoche , Pemba etc etc. I drove 90..000km in 9 MTHS. I was there for 4 years. I miss is. Some villages can be unfriendly because if the war and each village still have their loyalty to different sides.,look out for the flags. Skip Vilankoulos...stop in at Inashorro on way south. Better.

This was one of the most inspiring videos… As a Mozambican I made my first visit to Chimanimani in July last year after seeing this video. It was amazing, I went all the way to Chikukwa… not driving the Jibari but a 2014 Fortuner. Since then I went again in Sept and this time I took a friend when we did a trip all the way from Maputo to Lago Niassa. Thank you for your stories and the way to tell them… they are really inspiring. Hope to catch you on the road next time you visit Mozambique.

I just just got back from 4 days at Chikukwa (and met Meteus!!! What a gem!) I feel like none of the photos or videos I took did it justice - but this video does! It is the most mindblowing, spectacular places I have visited, and one of the few remaining near pristine places on the planet that we are privileged enough to experience. (ps - our river Musapa river crossing was a little more hair raising - we were apparently the first car to cross since the summer rains - but knew from what you'd shared on IG, that it would be worth it. It is the ultimate adventure :)

Wow...that was incredible. You got me to the edge of my bed as I was lying down watching! The incredible photography of the scenery, and the treacherous road to move through it all was nail-biting yet rewarding at last - thanks to Jabari! Tim, you show in your videos, the real purpose of traveling which is exploring Mother Nature and eventually exploring our own selves. The effort that you put in to "show it as it is" is admirable. Thank you for inspiring us. Looking forward to seeing more of your future videos

Went on some school trips into the Rhodesian Chimanimani in the mid 1960's but never saw any roads quite like those ones. I think that the Vumba area north of Mutare is more picturesque but nothing like the extreme absence of human intervention that you experienced. Reminds me of watching a young lad in Vilancusa, Moz seeing a car and glass for the very first time in 1959! Now if you decided to walk from Walvis Bay, Angola to Sofala in Mozambique, well then we could all re-live David Livingstone's trek in 1855. Your Gorongoza video was great and looked much like what I remember of it in 1960. Looking forward to your next one, bravo.

These are beautiful and dramatic Chimanimani mountains. I suppose if they fix the accessibility of the camp it will become popular. I last hiked the Chimanimani mountains with Outward Bound Zimbabwe in early 2000s. I hope both governments (Mozambique and Zimbabwe) open up the national parks to be accessible from both countries. Beautiful production and adventure👌
