I run my stove about 7-8 months per year, every day from November through March, the creosote I get out of my chimney looks exactly like the stuff you had, I get about a half of a 5 gallon pail worth. I agree 100% with you on burning hot, it’s safer than a smudge fire, I burn mostly hardwoods and a small amount of conifer. I use Creo-shot twice a week and it works very well. Great video. 👍🏻

There’s a spray called Anti-Creosoot which is made of manganese. You spray it on the fire when it gets going and can even spray it directly on your wood. It transforms the creosote. It’s a good supplement to regular maintenance.

Hot fires and dry wood are the keys to success for not building creosote. Maintaining a consistent flue temp is key. Also if u are not a big fan of cleaning soot of yourself, rub your skin with Vaseline first , it will wash right off

Hey buck n J like the letter from manitoba. I heat with wood and do work in the industry great video. I see u have some moss on your roof. A copper wire Accross the top will eliminate that. The old lightning rod system with copper between had more than one job. One number 6 wire will tune that moisture holding moss right up

HI BUCKIN 😊😊 most people that use a chimney brush usually clean them.3 OR 4 times 2 make sure they are good and clean some stove wood that has some water 💦 😮in it U have 2 give the stove more air if U have good dry wood try 2 keep it dry and covered up and off the ground 2 keep dry any stove wood U cut this year won't be ready 4 the wood stove until next year it has 2 have time 2 dry out its better 2 cut and spilt any green wood the same time good sunshine ☀😊 and plenty of air will help it dry 😊😊 OMG 9 16 2O23

I clean my chimney every year and then burn a creosote log a couple times during the winter to help keep the chimney clean. We burn alot of white elm.

I shut my stove down every couple weeks, stuff newspaper in the flue and light the chimney on fire. I closely monitor 5he chimney temp and add or subtract air to control the burn. All the ash falls into the stove. No more fear of chimney fires.

I’ve never pushed the brush down the chimney… always in from the stove… with a plastic sheet over it… with a small slit in it… pushed it up… put the sections in a drill… and ran the up and down abit…

I changed the hat on my chimney this year. Breathes much better than the old one. That makes a big difference. Every now and then I tap the flue along the seam and it breaks all the tar and resin off. Then I crank the fire up hard to burn it off the baffle plate. In twenty four years I have never swept the chimney. When the baffle plate burned out I replaced it with a 10mm thick stainless one I got made up. It doesn't burn out or sag.

I would be interested to know how much of the build up was above the roof line ... I'm guessing well over half. Next season, if your old bones can manage two trips to the roof, set a marker tape on the rod so you know when the brush is just below the roof line, run it down that far and then inspect the droppings, then run the rest of the pipe.

I’ve got a masonry chimney , much safer . And burn only dry wood , let the fire burn , let it have some air . Turning the draft off produces creosote . I Seldom clean the chimney , make shure the clean out in the bottom of the chimney is empty . 👍🇨🇦

If your chimney is 25-30+ feet weld a washer on a pipe nipplel that fits the threaded end of the sweep. On the other end of the sweep is a ring. Tie a small rope on both ends with a 2” washer on the end. Drop ithe washer down the pipe into the stove. Have someone pull the washer end down you pull it back up. If you’ve used rods you know what happens on a tall chimney.

Buckin of how many m² of wood was that approximately? My chimney also just done, but was 3 years ago....😅 much more ash so... It's an 11 meter pipe here too. Heavy work. Greetings kristof

Maple gives a lot of ash and creosote lot of sugar in the wood Not burning wood any longer but I loved the dry oak good hot fire no ash no creosote Insurance company was a real pain got a wood stove setting in garage if the world gets any stupider We use an outdoor furnace at our church and it heat the chapel and the church school The teacher keeps the fire on and warm at Apsley community Chappel

I don't know if i would do it with metal pipes, but if u have a normal masonry chimney, throw a powdered tea scoop full of rock salt in fire..powders it instantly

That shingle-damaging moss on the roof? Equal parts bleach and water (mix and let sit for an hour), than spray it--it'll be gone, guaranteed. Also, we clean the pipe from the bottom up with one o' those fiberglass snapped-together rods with the brush cut to fit the diameter of the pipe. Clean as a whistle and don't have to climb up on the roof. Best to ya'.

Thats why cleaning yearly is the plan . Sugar Maple? burns nice with little ash. What about a screen on that pipe topper. Seen a guys roof get a big hole burned in it when he blew a big chunk out the top when firing it up.

If you have an "efficient" fireplace (with the reburner tubes at the top), how do you get the ash out of it from the chimney? There is a steel plate that prevents access, so all the dust/ash would just land on it and then you can't access it.

I have one of those but i cant reach my pipe from the roof its to steep but i can push it up from inside

That's the easiest stove ive seen to clean buckin. I gotta take my pipe off at top of stove then I can ram it clean. My dad on the other hand has about 15 foot of pipe hes gotta take all the way out cuz it's got 2 bends he can't push the brush threw.

I always use someone who is licensed and certified... Also keep my receipts from job being done ..Not sure what would happen if you have a bad enough chimney fire that you end up loosing the house ...You put in a insurance clam and they ask was the chimney cleaned...You say yes i did it ...They ask are you certified no....Claimed denied ..Again not sure if that's would happen but i am not taking the chance...insurance company's will use any loop hole..

I burn nothing but bone dry hardwood and burn it hot all the time every year when I clean my chimney there is nothing to clean just a little bit in the chimney cap

Stage 1 -3 creosote. You got fine powder. You’re doin good.,but could be better. You do not want black rock candy or tar build up. When in doubt get a moisture meter
