You can use flexible button lock rods with a whip, drill and a good HEPA vacuum. The whip is basically weed trim line that doesn’t do damage like the wire brush. That system will go through all the offsets up to the top and get the creosote out without problems. Or just hire a Chimney Sweep. Usually a chimney sweep is cheaper in the off season.

i drop a rope down with a carribena or shackle on the end then when it comes out in the stove (remove the firewall to access the flue pipe), then attach the chimney sweeping brush to the carebina or any type of strong shackle) the brush must be a very tight fit. Then go back up on the roof and pull the brush up. you can repeat the process until you find the job is done. It's faster with two people and you don't risk the brush breaking off of the rods. If you keep the stove closed with all the vents closed you can simply wait for the dust to settle, don't forget to remove any soot dust from the bends etc. Oh. Thats what he did :D Today i heard that dried potato peel cleans the chimney. Take 3 or 4 handfuls of well dried potato peel and place them on the dying embers over night.

Full potatoes wrapped in tinfoil. It doesn’t do a good job like a anti creosote powder or spray will do. ANTI-CREO-SOOT or CRE-AWAY, but they are expensive. Stay away from chimney sweep logs, they don’t work. You will have to burn hundreds of potatoes to actually get a good safe result, compared to the products and do believe they’re environmentally safe.

@@akaredcrossbow I am not using full potatoes. I have saved and dried the peel from most of the potatoes i've eaten since last year. The idea is to have one fire that leaves a good amount of coals and as only the coals are left i will add the potato skins to slowly smoulder their smoke up the chimney. After this i will be sweeping my chimney by pulling the brush all the way through from above. I close the stove down so the soot stays within the stove and the last bend in the stove pipe. Once it has settled down i can scoop it all out.

izzzzzz6 I know your not using full potatoes, but the way to do it is using full potatoes wrapped in tinfoil with small holes poked through the tinfoil into the potato. The starch in the potato and the chemical formed from the tinfoil mix and break down the creosote. I should also say that I’m a chimney sweep in the US and nothing works better than anti creosote products. The whole potato and tinfoil was told to me about 20 years ago from a chimney Sweep that came from Ireland with over 40 years experience. He said to me why are you just using the peels, your only using it with a quarter of it’s potential. I used to think just the peels, but after he told me about it I gave it a try myself and it worked much better than the peels alone. About 3-4 potatoes wrapped and let them burn up until there’s basically nothing left. 👍🏻👍🏻

Just you you guys know you are not supposed to use a wire brush on a metal Chimney pip you should be using a hard or medium nylon brush

Way too much work to get your pipe cleaned. I get it that it’s not straight. That’s gonna be a problem forever. When I installed my stove I made sure it was straight pipe. It takes me longer to put the ladder 🪜 up than it does to clean the pipe. I can even do it while it’s still hot.
