The Chinese government requires all social media apps operating in China having content filtering, which should obey the government’s regulation. The US companies don’t want to do that because that means all the information around the world will be not available in China. Without those information and the global ecosystem, these companies wouldn’t be able to compete with the domestic Chinese social media.
