A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck China's Xinjiang region.
Tremors were also felt in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
The earthquake occurred at 22:56 local time.
The epicenter was at a depth of 7 kilometers.
Aftershocks were later recorded.
On social networks, eyewitnesses share footage of the natural disaster.
Some people ran out into the street.
Several buildings were reported to have received minor damage.
Rescue teams were sent to the affected areas.
There is no official information about the destruction and casualties yet.
Aftershocks are likely in the coming days.
Xinjiang is a region in northwest China.
Population is about 26 million people.
The administrative center and largest city is Urumqi.
