Africa is where the United Nations has deployed seven of its 13 peacekeeping operations - which globally comprise more than 100,000 military, police, and civilian personnel. 80 per cent of China’s UN peacekeepers are on the continent. Most of the Chinese peacekeepers in Africa are assigned to four of the UN biggest missions there, helping to maintain peace and security, protecting vulnerable groups and supporting development. Beijing is among the world’s top 10 largest contributors of troops to the UN and among the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, China is the biggest contributor of troops who don the UN force’s distinctive blue berets or helmets. China is also the second-largest financial contributor to UN peacebuilding efforts, after the US. In this explainer we explore what China’s UN peacekeeping mission in Africa looks like, and why Beijing is increasing its role in peacebuilding efforts on the continent.

Getting oil from other countries has to do with maintaining their US Dollar as world trading currency (hence US was very angry when Iran contemplated/decided NOT to trade their oil in USD.... I watched a video that explains all this...US is very afraid other currencies like Euro, Yen or even RMB will depose USD as king of currencies.... it is not about securing oil supplies to themselves at all... otherwise why don't they use their own oil and leave other countries alone - i.e. stop invading for oil under "freedom")?

What about China's role in disrupting peace in South China Sea?
@ken-ch1rp
@ken-ch1rp 3 жыл бұрын
1) it is called "South China Sea" with reasons...... 2) Chinese have charted South China Sea and turned it into chinese territory since the Columbus era, before USA exist 3) there are hundred of islands in South China Sea, and each of them extend 50 sea miles for territory. Chinese there because they claimed it, but US definitely does not own any islands there, whenever the american carrier and warships pass through South China Sea, they will enter these territory territory

China is not "disrupting peace" in the SCS. It is winning with peace. The Asean countries are all working with China and allowing it to join RCEP, as without China it means far less. Duterte of the PH makes the most vivid acknowledge of this fact, as he told the USA to get out of the SCS, as China has already won. He wants to get the most out of China's psyche of wanting to be a large forbearing country. This is the most intelligent approach of the weak--knowing the mindset of the powerful.
