Since China’s “reform and opening-up” policy started in the late 1970s, rapid economic growth has been achieved, GDP grew extremely quickly from 0.15 trillion US$ in 1978 to 17,4 trillion US$ in 2022, but Energy-driven heavy industry caused severe environmental problems and ecosystem degradation. The Chinese government successively implemented several key ecological restoration programs to alleviate ecological problems, such as the Three-North Natural Forest and Grain for Green program.

Hi Rafa, i really like your content videos. Really structured!!! Regarding “forest” I believe its a way that China is “greening” but i saw a lot of “grass” not “forest” itself. I invite you to visit Amazon forest and see the diversity of trees and mainly the quantities of trees , it’s amazing. I didn’t want to be annoying or criticizing the video…i just dont see forests how they are for me.

For tropical forest-like “forest” to exist there must be enough sunshine and rain/water both of which are in short supply in that part of China. The environment there can only support grass and stout trees and scrubs

Actually China has a massive refforestation program. The government launched the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program (TSFP) in 1978 which covers 13 provinces across northern China with a total area of 4 million square km. The Program was divided into three stages, aiming at increasing the forest cover from 5.05% to 14.95% in the area in 72 years. By the end of 2020, the TSFP had cumulatively completed an afforestation area of 31.74 million hectares. The forest coverage rate in the area has reached 13.84%.

退林/退耕还田这两年有些地方确实在搞，也出了一些问题。但是总体森林覆盖率是在稳步增加的@@kimzenx
